This book is a great complement to my book "The Secret To Getting A Job After College". While I cover the details about resumes and cover letters, this book does a very effective job addressing issues related to determining what you should think about doing after college and the author also has a valuable section on how to prepare your elevator speech. I recommend it for everyone who is in college or has graduated in the past few years and I now consider it required reading for many of my students.

I was looking more for advice on getting from a major with no clear career applications(ie. not doctor, lawyer or teacher) to a career that I would be able to live with and perhaps enjoy. This guide helps you more if you have a pretty clear idea what you want to do and are ready to make a full time job of finding your career, especially if you are not willing to settle for "paying the bills" or "get out of the parents' house". For those of you lucky enough to have not picked a major yet, just remember that picking a major needs to corrolate to getting a job, not just "learning stuff". For everyone else, if you have a dream, seems like this book will help you get there. If you don't yet have a dream, I would strongly suggest tackling that area first. This book mainly just suggests getting a career profile(which is more of other people telling you what you should do, instead of you finding out what you want to do). There's a lot of really helpful and very current information in here. You have to be ready to jump on it though.

Good book found some new information and things I already knew. Made me feel better about not finding a job in my field. Also helped me with self esteem. A great read for someone who is down about job process. Also gave me ideas about different things to do to help with job process.

I purchased this book after Lindsey gave an eye-opening presentation at my school and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This is definitely a helpful book regardless of what stage you're at in your own career development. I really enjoyed the style and format of the book because it was easy and fun to read, but you could skip around or skim through each tip if it didn't apply to your own situation.

As I prepare to graduate with my master's degree in the next few months, I've been finding myself struggling to make a decision whether I should pursue a career in the field I'm receiving my degree in, or pursue some alternate dreams I've had for quite some time. Lindsey's tips on getting rid of "shoulds" and exploring a passion, really spoke to me and my own circumstances and provided me with a sense of comfort that I really needed.

If this particular section doesn't apply to you, then I'm sure the tips on internships, networking, resumes, cover letters, and interviews will.

I read this book my senior year of college and found that it provided some valuable insights. I have always had an idea of what I wanted to pursue after school, but I found that this book takes those ideas and turns them into actionable steps in order to help you reach your goals. The author provides 90 suggestions in which those planning for their careers should take advantage of, especially if you are still discovering your interests. The book is an easy read I and appreciated the conversational style of writing. For each of the suggestions, the author discusses how each can be valuable to you and she provides some possible steps in the "make this work for you" section. I recommend this book to all college students who are looking for guidance when planning out their career. Even if you already have an idea in mind, this book can still provide some valuable advice.

Lindsey Pollak breaks it down for you! Her tips are mostly great, found some that I wasn't even aware of. I also enjoyed the fact that she starts by telling us her own story and how her career built up over time by taking action. The author also provides great insights from many other industry leaders. I would definitely recommend this book to us young and restless grads!

This is the most actionable career book I've ever read. I was initially hesitant to read it, because it's in a list format and I find books/writing in a list format sacrifice quality and depth of ideas for sheer quantity. This book is definitely not in that category: it is an in-depth examination that balances big ideas with small actions. Each item is organized under a broader theme, and the organization of the advice is fantastic.

If you're young, ambitious and unsure about what your next steps are, pick this book up ASAP!
