Book Description

November 30, 1987
The most unique book in its field, GETTING HIRED, How to Sell Yourself is a book that owns a track record of proven results. Purposely written with timeless information, the book is chock full of advice, in a direct, results oriented format. From the other side of the desk, the author is the employer who tells the reader what it takes to get hired in today's competitive marketplace. Without this information you are simply just not ready for your next interview. There is no reason to lose in the job interview. As a corporate insider and well known management consultant, the author tells why some applicants get offered the job while others do not. This long standing treasure of a book becomes your personal assistant to help you get the job you want. From new college graduates entering the world of work for the first time, to experienced professionals returning to the job market, GETTING HIRED continues to be your primary resource to winning in the interview. After thousands of interviews for major international organizations, the author shares valuable employer secrets on why the qualified often lose in an interview and the inexperienced often win. This book offers proven solutions if you find yourself losing in the job interview or are are unsure of your preparedness. Many, despite outstanding qualifications, strong recommendations, and confidence in their experience find themselves hurting their chances with poor interview performance. The author explores why the preparation an applicant brings to the interview--the resumes, recommendations, qualifications--are not decisive. Rather, it is the presentation of these assets that ensures one gets the job offer. Employers hire to get a job done. They select applicants they like and those whom they believe will get results. Insights into why employers like certain applicants rather than others is a prime contribution of the book, an insight which is invaluable for the job seeker. In GETTING HIRED, the author suggests ways to favorably impress the employer, none more important than being yourself, and clues that tell how well you're doing. In addition, the author offers a list of do's and don't's based on his extensive interviewing experience and hiring. Once the job is offered, deciding whether or not to accept it is as important as receiving the offer. GETTING HIRED leads the reader through several areas to explore with the prospecitve employer before accepting the job. Getting the best possible job is, after all, the goal of job seeking. GETTING HIRED, the guide to help you win your next job interview and to help you decide if the position being offered is the one you want. This remarkable book is as important and relevent today as it has ever been.

5.0 out of 5 stars Advice everyone can benefit from!, April 22, 1999

The advice that Mr. Costanzo gives in this book is superb! Both my husband and I have had many successful interviews in the course of our careers and wondered what we could learn from reading "Getting Hired...". However, there are several suggestions and points made which neither of us had really considered. Recently, my husband followed some of Mr. Costanzo's suggestions and was offered a better position (promotion) with another company! We credit Mr. Costanzo is helping him take his career to the next level!

Easy to read, straight forward approach to getting hired. It didn't just tell you what NOT to do, but what TO DO. Highly recommended, especially for those just entering the workforce. Should be required reading for every college student.
