Book Description

A good bad boy is hard to find.

An Out of Uniform Story

Seth Masterson has been lusting over Miranda Breslin since the moment he saw her on a Vegas stage. Now that he’s been asked to watch out for her as she opens a dance studio in San Diego, he’s all over it, figuring it’s his chance to get her in his bed. Except the stubborn single mom seems determined to deny their crazy-sizzling sexual chemistry. In typical SEAL fashion, Seth makes it his personal mission to prove her wrong.

Miranda got over her attraction to bad boys about the time one of them knocked her up at the age of eighteen. Seth’s mocking gray eyes and military-buff bod, though, are pure and utter temptation. And when a flooded apartment forces her and her twins to move in with him, she can no longer resist the urge to set off some serious fireworks between the sheets.

But give him her heart? No, thank you. Any involvement with Seth will be strictly physical—and temporary. So when Seth decides permanent is what he wants, Miranda must steel her defenses before she does something incredibly foolish…like fall in love.

Warning: This book contains a bad boy SEAL who knows what he wants and will go to any lengths to get it. Expect some graphic language, hot sex, seduction, hot sex, dirty talk, hot sex, a little man-on-man action, hot sex. Oh, and hot sex.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy Fun Time December 6, 2012

I have to say I become a little more of a fan of Elle Kennedy with each new book of hers I read. Her latest in the Out of Uniform series, Getting Hotter, is no exception. Our hero, Seth, is a hot (duh!) Navy SEAL who is funny, sarcastic and doesn't like (terrified of?) kids. Our heroine, Miranda, is a single mom who owns a dance studio and is strong willed and fierce about her kids.

The first Elle Kennedy book I read was Midnight Rescue: A Killer Instincts Novel, which I loved. This is the second of Kennedy's Out of Uniform books that I've read; the first was the predecessor to this one, Feeling Hot, which I also really enjoyed. I believe this book is categorized as Erotica, but I have to say it felt more contemporary romance to me. Yes, there's hot and steamy sex, but it doesn't happen in the first ten pages or even the first few chapters. There really wasn't anything steamier than you'd find in a Susan Donovan or J.R. Ward novel. My understanding of the earlier books in the series, even the one I'd read, was that they were more risque and contained a lot of threesomes. So, if that's what you were looking for with this book, you'll be disappointed. Not that the sex wasn't hot, because it definitely was, but it was just Seth and Miranda.

However, I very much enjoyed the build up of the romance, they didn't fall into bed together right away and I love when that happens in books. I get to know the characters and I'm more titillated and happy when they finally do have sex.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay... November 21, 2012

Well I was super excited for this book, I preordered it because I absolutely loved Cash's book and was hoping Getting Hotter would be just as awesome. However after reading it, I was disappointed. I could not bring myself to care about Seth. In the previous book it was made clear that he didn't like kids, so when I read the book description and learned his heroine was a mother with kids, I immediately thought I'd be reading about this tough sexy SEAL who slowly falls in love with 2 kids as well as the mother. Nope, that is not at all what I got, he pretty much ignores them till near the end. And of course, it's explained why he was so stand off-Ish but to me it came across as too little too late. I understand why he didn't feel comfortable around the kids but still, like I said before I just couldn't bring myself to like or care about him. Especially because I thought Sophie and Jason were adorable, so it bugged me that Seth ignored them. ( another thing that just really bugged me was that he smoked around the children, it was a small detail, but smoking near children is one of my biggest turn offs, so please if you're a smoker, don't do it around the kids, thanks) Anyways Seth does come around eventually but by that point I didn't really care. *shrugs* Anyways I read Cash's story in one sitting but with this book, I found myself taking multiple breaks. So all in all, this book wasn't bad and it wasn't great, it was just okay. I will definitely continue following the series though, and I'm looking forward to reading more about Dylan and his partner. :)

Navy SEAL Seth Masterson has had a thing for former showgirl Miranda Breslin since the first moment he saw her. Now that she's moved to San Diego and his mother has ordered him to keep an eye out for her, Seth thinks it's the perfect time to seduce the beautiful dancer.

Miranda, a single mom with two jobs, doesn't want any entanglements. Particularly not with a man like Seth; she's had her fill of bad boys, thank you very much. Then her apartment floods and Miranda and her children temporarily move in with Seth. The attraction between her and Seth is getting too hot for Miranda to resist. But even as she gives in to Seth's advances, Miranda has to wonder: Can she keep things between her and Seth strictly physical when he's doing his best to capture her heart?

To borrow the title of another one of Elle Kennedy's Out of Uniform books, the heat is on in Getting Hotter. Ms. Kennedy knows how to write scorching sexual tension and boy does the tension reach new heights in the eighth Out of Uniform story.

Miranda is a heroine you have to love. She grew up fast at a young age when she gave birth to her twins. Miranda's love for her children, her hardworking attitude, and her generous heart make it easy to adore her. Seth, in turn, is a lot rougher around the edges. I admit, he never really grew on me, something that's never happened with any of Ms. Kennedy's characters before. In the beginning of Getting Hotter, he doesn't seem to want to understand Miranda's responsibilities as a parent. His turnaround when it comes to his relationship with the twins, Jason and Sophie, wasn't as organic as I'd have hoped, so it pulled me out of the story a bit. Still, I give high marks to Ms.
