Logical, well laid out and insightful, November 25, 2002

This review is from: Getting Into America: The Immigration Guide to Finding a New Life in the USA (Paperback)
I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I found this book. Finally a book that introduces all the major types of visas available to non-americans wanting to gain entry into the US (notable exception = does not discuss J visas), and offers examples showing situations in which you might choose one style of visa over. It also gives you invaluable insights into why visas are denied and how to conduct yourself at the port of entry. I used this book to find out the steps involved in applying for an H1-B visa application and feel fairly confident that I can handle this process without an immigration lawyer. If you want to hone in on the right visa for your situation and learn the steps needed to obtain it, or perhaps just understand why your Spanish lover was denied the right to visit you in the US (and what you should both do differently next time), you will really appreciate this resource.
