The material presented in this comprehensive book ranges from fundamental concepts such as understanding modes and scale and chord relationships, to the application of various scales, arpeggios, and chromaticism. In addition, more advanced areas are explored, such as combining scales, using extensions, and superimposing. Includes standard notation and tablature as well as fingerboard diagrams. The included CD demonstrates many of the examples in the book.

Scott Reed graduated from the University of Southern California and received a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance with a major in Studio Guitar. He is a two-time recipient of a music fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and has taught applied guitar for Governors State University. good book very organized lay out straight forward and easy to read, but a tough read if your not caught up on your theory.. I would not recomend this book to someone that doesnt know what modes are. Otherwise it is a pretty decent book

This book not only explains the relationship between scales and chords but shows the application through musical examples. Important concepts are introduced and diagrams are included for visualizing shapes on the fingerboard. A must have reference !

I studied with Scott Reed while he was developing the material for this book. Years later when the book came out I went through it and it is remarkably similar to his lessons. This book is the next best thing to private lessons.
