Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Getting Into Guitar Improvising: A Systematic Approach to Soloing [With CD] (Mel Bay's Getting Into...) (Paperback)
good book very organized lay out straight forward and easy to read, but a tough read if your not caught up on your theory.. I would not recomend this book to someone that doesnt know what modes are. Otherwise it is a pretty decent book

5.0 out of 5 stars Important Concepts, January 24, 2005
This review is from: Getting Into Guitar Improvising: A Systematic Approach to Soloing [With CD] (Mel Bay's Getting Into...) (Paperback)
This book not only explains the relationship between scales and chords but shows the application through musical examples. Important concepts are introduced and diagrams are included for visualizing shapes on the fingerboard. A must have reference !

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book on Improvising, October 18, 2007
This review is from: Getting Into Guitar Improvising: A Systematic Approach to Soloing [With CD] (Mel Bay's Getting Into...) (Paperback)
I studied with Scott Reed while he was developing the material for this book. Years later when the book came out I went through it and it is remarkably similar to his lessons. This book is the next best thing to private lessons.
