This book had a greater influence on my college process than any other book on the market. The author is candid, clever and right on target. The book is also an easy and enjoyable read, fun for all those in, out of, and interested in the chaotic process that is modern admissions. Two thumbs up.

Very honest portrayal of how one young man set his goals and worked at getting into a top college. Along the way, some great insights into the pressure cooker of the college application process, the value of high school athletics, and the ups and downs of senior year in high school. Great and easy read!

What Yale is looking for in a student?,

This review is from: Getting Into Yale: How One Student Wrote This Book and Got Into the School of His Dreams (Paperback)
This book was useful as an outline of what a college-bound student can do to make an impression on an Admissions office. That's the best thing I can force myself to say about this publication, a book by an extremely ambitious young man. The text is peppered with a weisenheimer-esque, hyper self-centered attitude. Good to see a kid with oodles of self-confidence get what he's after. But often he comes off as part of the elitist, scratch-your-way-to-the-top, realm that I'd assumed Ivy League schools were nowadays trying to distance themselves from. Reading this creepy book gave me a negative impression of Yale's standards.

i know josh. he is a cool guy. this book is basically a fun look at his last year in high school, socially, acedemically, etc. its kinda like getting to read his diary. it is a good book for anyone who is currently or will soon be going through the craziness of modern college admissions procedures (or anyone whose lived through it and wants to look back and laugh) congratulations to josh on making his dreams come true. ...andrew toomajian
