This book was published during my first year of college, and represents a good sample of the kinds of articles in the Reader's Digest that I enjoyed reading during my high school years. I didn't find this anthology, however, until I was a young mother of two little girls. I found "Getting the Most Out of Life" on my mother-in-law's bookshelf and read it while breast-feeding the baby.
What a great assortment of humorous and inspirational articles! You can read about health, wealth, serving others, and overcoming handicaps. And there are two book condensations that I have never forgotten: "Wake Up and Live!" by Dorothea Brande and "How to Live on 24 Hours a Day" by Arnold Bennett. I later found Dorothea's book and my own copy of "Getting the Most Out of Life" on thrift store book shelves. But now, isn't it wonderful! that we can now browse the bookshelves of Amazon.com without leaving our home and find our old favorites.

The condition listed as very good was an exaggeration, closer to fair. Book has water damage, spine is rough shape.

This book was published a few years before the edition I have cherished for over 50 years, being one my daddy had bought. This earlier edition was not as well done, although some chapters were repeated word for word later. The later edition is more timeless than the first, in my opinion, and I was hoping to find that edition so I could give a copy to each of my children and grandchildren. Both of these editions contain chapters that I read and reread just like books of the Bible, and many chapters speak to my life very loudly. I recommend both editions for anyone just searching for some inspiration and guidance in daily activities and problems.
