This book is a great resource for anyone who has struggled with a long-term HABIT, which is/has created alot of grief and frustration. The author makes several suggestions on what a person should do in order to break the chains which entangle a person addicted to "_______" fill in the blank; drugs, food, a person, etc.

I have found it to be very helpful thus far although I have not completed the book as of yet. I must add, that the author's advice and wisdom, is Christian-based. He (author)emphasizes using scripture, prayers, and turning to other believers who can support the addicted person, break free from bondage. Thus, if you aren't a believer in Jesus, and God, you will find it very difficult to relate to this book.

I will add, that I participated in a 12 step program for over 13 years, yet didn't experience full freedom, hence why I purchased the book. For me, the book's suggestions is what is making the difference. With God all things are possible, and HE wants us free from bondage, once and for all. I knew that I still had more work to do, to break completely from my addiction, and with God on my side, the rest is history!

I was curious as to what this book could offer and was amazed at how powerful some of the chapters are. One especially (Looking Through God's Eyes) got me to the bottom line in a longstanding sin that was in my life. So I've recommended this book to many friends that have the same sin as me. Accurate in using scriptures as well. If you're ready to get to some answers then read this book and answer the questions and be changed!

This is book will give you a good start in breaking a bad habit or sin. This might not be a book for everyone but I hope that it would be helpful for many. Good content but I wish the author would have used a different version of the bible and not the Message translation. That is why I gave him 4 stars.

"God wants us to develop a passion for Him that is greater than our passion to sin." ~ (Locations 170-73)

Erwin W. Lutzer believes that our response to temptation shows us how much we love God. I have to agree. If you are in love with God I think you will sin less because then you will want to keep God's commandments. This book is helpful for anyone who has tried to overcome sin in their life and has not succeeded on their own. Erwin W. Lutzer provides practical ideas like reading more scripture and addressing core motivations. This book is mostly about how to break sinful habits. The author gives specific verses for covetousness, pride, lack of discipline, lust, anger, worry, bitterness and unhealthy eating. He also discusses addictions. I found this book to contain truth and by reading it you will be led back to a life of joy and victory. I thought it was one of the most well written books I've ever read.

Anyone who struggles with a bad habit or ever sins needs to read this book. Guilt is not God's tool to deliver you from your shortcomings. Erwin Lutzer maps out a clear path to recognize your problem, find a new path to follow, as well as insights to see the warning signs of danger sneaking up on you once again.
