This is a good book! My husband was in prison for 7 years and was so confused about what he should do and how he should see things out here after being gone for so long. I bought him this book and he read it in one night. The next morning he told me that he had a new outlook on numerous things just from him reading this book! I thumbed through it myself after he told me that and I see why it struck him so; there are some REAL points made in the book that spoke specifically to him and his situation. Appreciate it Mr. Boothe! Keep up the good work!

Getting Out & Staying Out: A Black Man's Guide to Success After Prison Great advice for black men both in prison and coming out of prison. Really, it contains good advice for all black men period. IF black men who have been incarcerated got out and followed the advice in this book, we would have hundreds of empty prisons in no time because they wouldn't go back like 75% of them presently do.

My guy is in prison for 16 months and he loved the book and thought that it was very inspiring.

THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ FOR ANY BLACK MAN WHO HAS BEEN TO JAIL. IF THEY FOLLOW THE ADVICE WITHIN THIS BOOK IT WILL HELP THEM TREMENDOUSLY TO MAINTAIN THEIR FREEDOM.

This guide takes a very honest and realistic viewpoint of life after incarceration for black men, and offers some useful and positive advice. I personally love self-help books that are written by those with real direct experience instead of so-called "professionals" who have no real experience with their topics. This author served substantial time in prison and has obviously turned his life circumstances around and become an entrepreneur and bestselling author, and that is to be commended and should be put forth as an example for other black men who have been incarcerated to observe and perhaps emulate. Highly recommended for institutional use as well.

This guide is a useful tool for individuals and institutions. Recidivism is a big problem when it comes to incarceration in America and books of this sort that address it realistically should be deferred to when the movers and shakers are creating criminal justice policy.

Highly recommended for incarcerated black men and those who were incarcerated before. Simple but invaluable advice from someone who has been there literally.

The title can be misleading as you would think only those affected by the penal system can benefit from this book; quite the contrary. Mr. Boothe presents a practical and "common sense" guide, in a concise and cogent fashion, to ex-prisoners by the way of "Getting Out & Staying Out"; which can be read in less than 2 hours. The basic premise for success, as he demonstrates very well, is as the old saying goes, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail". He demonstrates through his own experiences the key aspect to success, "preparation meeting opportunity".

Within this guide, Mr. Boothe's fully recognizes that Black men are their own saviors when it comes to ceasing the activity of Black on Black crime. He stresses the importance of self-ownership and accountability of one's actions, responsibility and duty to one's family and community, creating an entrepreneurial mindset and surrounding oneself with positive influences as necessary tools in shifting the paradigm to one of necessary positive change.

This book is an asset to all in that it is a reminder that diligence, determination, and dedication are necessary factors to building favorable outcomes. His story is one of inspiration. It shows that God can use what men consider, the very least of us, and make them a teacher of nations!!!

Great booklet for any person who has been to jail or prison and doesn't want to go through that ever again. Everyone knows that it's not easy surviving in society after being incarcerated so therefore pertinent advice and pointers are needed and this is a good resource for that.

A superb resource that is sure to inspire proper and relevant action from any ex-felon who reads it and takes it to heart. Nothing like getting advice from someone who has been there and done that. Everyone knows that it is not easy to transition from prison back into society, especially after long stays behind bars, so the kind of advice and information that is offered in this book is potentially priceless for those who are willing to follow the blueprint that Mr. Boothe offers in this book. If you know of a black man (or black woman, for that matter) that you want to help PROPERLY transition from prison back into society, get them this book. It will surely help them do that.
