Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott are co-directors of the Center for Relationship Development at Seattle Pacific University, a groundbreaking program dedicated to teaching the basics of good relationships. Les Parrott is a professor of clinical psychology at SPU, and Leslie is a marriage and family therapist at SPU. They are co-authors of Becoming Soul Mates and Like a Kiss on the Lips. Their book, Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts (SYMBIS), won a Gold Medallion Award and is the centerpiece for the SYMBIS video curriculum on marriage preparation. This book is too old-fashioned for the modern bride and groom. They assume that the bride's parents are footing the bill for the wedding and are actively involved in the planning of the wedding. This is simply not the case for anyone I know that's recently been married. Also, an entire chapter devoted to abstinence before marriage seems unnecessary. I would recommend Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts and The Five Love Languages for premarital purposes. After the wedding, buy There's A Spouse In My House- a humorous and thought-provoking book about newlywed life.

This book is very good. I would recommend it for engaged couples...
some of the chapters are not worth the price of printing it but most of the chapters provide practical and godly information....
