Very informative, but needs to be updated,

This book gives very clear directions for working one's way through a basic GIS project. Instructions are very detailed, but this book has not been updated since the release of ArcGIS 9.2, which features a number of changes. At certain points in the tutorial, users will have to improvise a bit, as a number of the dialog boxes and features are now described incorrectly.

I have barely started using this book, but it is outdated. The tutorial data is available at
[...] Otherwise, you can't even get started. The data does work on 10, and while I haven't gotten very far, the actual book is written well enough, once you get started. |
