If you're fascinated by beads but don't have a clue...,

This review is from: Getting Started Stringing Beads (Getting Started series) (Hardcover)
I am fascinated by the art of beading and jewellery design. Everytime I walk into a bead store I just want to go nuts - but I didn't really have all the tools and jargon necessary to really make a good start. This book is just what you need to take to the store to guide you through the shopping experience and the creation process once you get home. As the previous reviewer said, it's Beading 101.
I know I will continue to refer to this book for years to come. The photographs are great and the layout and organization of the book are excellent. Highly recommended!

This may not be the book for veteran beaders, but for beginners and intermediates looking for a book with informative text, clear color pictures, and suggestions for new layouts and styles beyond the basic single-strand bracelet, it's a good choice. Instructions and pictures are clear and easy to follow. Good discussion of tools and techniques.

BEST beginner book,
This review is from: Getting Started Stringing Beads (Getting Started series) (Hardcover)
I purchased this book as a gift to a beginning beader. I am an experienced beader, and I found this book to have many things I wish I had when I first started beading. There is a description of the different shapes of beads and what their names are, rondelle, bicone, etc. There is also a scale diagram of the actual sizes of beads, 4mm, 6mm etc. Very helpful info. I am starting a women's beading co-op in Haiti as a mission project, and this has such great illustrations and pictures, they will be able to learn from this book.

Beading 101,

This book is an awesome introduction to the world of string beading. She says it is like a Beading 101 course and she is absolutely correct. I am new to the art of stringing beads and so far I have several orders based on a few projects that I have completed following the techniques outlined in this guide. I carry it with me in case I need it for a reference. Because it is hardcover I know that it is a book that I will have around for a long time.

I have never beaded in my life and bought this book partially based on the reviews here. When I read it the first it seemed too elementary even for me. But then I started getting enough materials to actually do a project. And I changed my mind. Seeing the step by step illustrations of how to use a crimp bead or how to make a loop really helped me. I practiced with craft wire until I thought the things I was attempting were nice enough then I moved to silver. This book also helped me in making choices of tools, findings and stringing materials. One tip I can give anyone starting out is buy the best stringing wire you can possibly afford and check online places, you'll find prices as much as 50% less than those in a craft store. You'll need to buy a second book for a wider variety of design ideas. I chose the first Beadstyle book and am very happy.

I liked this book. I am just starting out and wanted to get a book that was full of information that wasn't overwhelming. I found that this book was just that. You can take it to the store with you while shopping. Beading is fun and this book

I have come back to this book numerous times for help as I begin my jewelry making hobby. It is organized and laid out well, and the definitions and illustrations/photos of different types of beads, findings, etc., are very helpful for novices like me. The book contains pretty basic information, and that's a good thing. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get started off on the right foot with this hobby.

I bought this book when I realized I could save a lot of money shopping for beads in the wholesale district in NYC (Broadway in the 30's) and learning a few simple closures. This book explains it all, from the tools you need to the different kinds of beads to the wire and clasps to use. It also has a rudimentary design section (just my speed!) on basic patterns and the effects they create, from "I'm off to the opera in my little black dress" to "I'm a crazy artist." There are numerous clear color illustrations and simple explanations of how to do the basics. A great first book if you're doing beading just for fun.

This book explains and depicts every material necessary to delve into the art of beading. Together with a fantastic project book, such as "Get Started Beading stringing wirework stitching 52 Fabulous Projects"; anyone thinking,"...I could make that necklace..." can. I'm proof. People think I've been making jewelry for years, not just several weeks.
