Another Winner, August 29, 2011
I found it intriguing and exciting to discover characters that I was already familiar with from The Wild One interacting with the lead characters in this book. It wasn't like a series, but it lent an air of familiarity which is normally absent in Ms Denison's books, since I've never been to Austrailia and I have to stop and look up every geographic reference.
Getting There is a book that can hold it's head up in the company of the eight other masterpieces she has written. Having only read it once, I can't begin to describe everything I like about it, but for starters, the description of the house rebuilding is fascinating, and reminiscent of the painting job in Dreams Found. Then there is the delightful daughter who gets caught between her two mothers who are breaking up, that story line is gripping. And one of the most lovable subplots is the best friend, Em, who flirts with her lesbian friend, while always supporting and encouraging her.
The sister who turns out to be a mother and the mother who denies her own daughter then has her moment of remorse throw in the proper amount of disfunctional pathos to require a few tissues, and the author has woven all these subplots together into a readable and well-crafted story which warms the heart.

Lovely romance, August 25, 2011
Kat Oldfield has two failed relationships and now she considers herself to be a complete failure. She is estranged from her family and since she broke up with her partner of ten years, Shael, she is living alone in a dingy apartment. Kat's best friend Mary Margaret, (Em) talks her into moving into a house she inherited from her ex lover, Ruth. Kat is reluctant to do this though. The house is in dire need of repair and is also right near where her parents live. Kat decides she can't go on the way things are, so she makes the decision to move into the house and to begin the renovations herself. She won't go any where near her old family home though. Kat soon realizes she is going to need professional help with some of the repairs and hires a company of builders, where she meets Jess. Right away Kat feels she likes Jess more than she should and tries to keep her distance. After all, Jess is straight, isn't she?
When Meggie, Shael's daughter comes to stay with Kat, they meet up with Jess and her family.Meggie and Miranda, Jess's daughter get on really well together and Kat feels her attraction for Jess growing stronger.
Will Kat give into her desires and chance being rebuffed by Jess?
I love Lyn's writing and have done for years. This is the first book Lyn's published in a long time. It didn't disappoint. It was like coming home for me. The familiar writing was a true pleasure. I love the two main characters, Kat and Jess. This is more than just a simple romance, the story has a nice twist to it. This will join the rest of Lyn's books on my shelves to be re-read.

Sweet book, October 21, 2011
An ex lover and emotionally distant and unloving parents have decimated the Kat's self-esteem, making her believe she is unlovable and incapable of a long term and loving relationship. Her best friend of 20 years encourages her to renovate a house she inherited but never did anything with, bringing new feelings of desire, love and self-acceptance into Kat's life. This book was sweet and romantic but wish it had more sex and a well developed romance. I was not persuaded that Kat could develop deep feelings for her female contractor so quickly.
