This was a fast read. A ministers wife friend suggested this after losing her son. I found it too spiritual for what I needed but many I know have found good comfort in this book.

This book was extremely comforting to me after the loss of my wonderful fiancee. The way the author describes the "after life" made me feel so much better and helped to answer my never-ending question of "what is he doing?" "What can he hear, see, do, etc..." I would recommend this book to anyone who has suffered the loss of a very special person. I have several passages highlighted and look at them from time to time to get me through the rough times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life saving help for the grieving, April 26, 2008

This review is from: Getting Through the Night: Finding Your Way After the Loss of a Loved One (Mass Market Paperback)
Grief can feel like an abyss, and the way out seems impossible. Eugenia Price offers a life line with this little book. She doesn't minimize grief or tell the reader just to "get over it." Rather, she acknowledges the grief, then offers a way to "get through the night" until the day of peace dawns. Price writes from a Christian perspective; it is a relationship with God through Jesus Christ that leads to peace. But I would encourage agnostics or even unbelievers who are dealing with grief to give this book a try. It is so comforting, so gentle, so loving. And aren't you intrigued by the chapter titled, "Where is your Loved One?" This little book has the power to change your life by helping you through what seems the darkest night.

5.0 out of 5 stars I now buy a dozen at a time...just the best!, May 8, 2011

I am so glad to see this precious little book back in print! For awhile, I could only buy used copies to give to relatives, friends, and colleagues who were suffering through the grief of losing a Mother, Father, Wife, Husband, Child.... The message is not new, but it is by far the best portrayal of God's plan to comfort those who hurt. i used to buy six at a time, but because of my age, over 60, I now need to buy a dozen at a time. Oh, well, time marches on.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most helpful book I read after the death of my husband of 54 years., May 31, 2010

This book spoke to me like no other given or recommended to me after my husband's death. In it I found encouragement to keep on keeping on. I found acceptance in my circumstances that what I was experiencing was "normal" and that I would be able to make it. The interesting thing about this book is that after reading it the first time I asked the giver of the book why he picked out this particular book for me as he would not have known about Eugenia Price. He said that when he walked into the bookstore he just prayed asking God which book to buy for me. No wonder it seemed to be "just for me".

5.0 out of 5 stars Healing made easier, September 10, 2009

Someone gave this book to my boss after he lost his father. He was out of the office when they delivered it, so I read it since it was such a small book. I had lost one of my love ones a year earlier and wished that someone had given this book to me at the time of my lost. It really help me put things in perspective and get through the healing process, so I ordered a copy for myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Wonderful Book on Grief", May 16, 2009
This review is from: Getting Through the Night: Finding Your Way After the Loss of a Loved One (Mass Market Paperback)
"Getting Through The Night" by Eugenia Price is a very good "little" book
to read. My husband just recently died and a friend sent me this book. It had helped her so much that she knew that it would help me. I like "little books" because it doesn't take me long to get through them. I have read this one twice and refer to it quite often. Ordered this to have on hand for other people that I know it will be of some good. I love Eugenia Price as an author. I toured her home in Ga. one time. Thanks, Mary Dee

4.0 out of 5 stars Getting Through the Night, September 11, 2008
This review is from: Getting Through the Night: Finding Your Way After the Loss of a Loved One (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was recommended to me by a friend who had lost her husband. She read everything she could find during those terrible first years & this one, she said, was the best. So, when I needed a book for another friend suffering a loss, I bought this one. Since that time, unfortunately, I have had several opportunities to give this book and have given it several times. I want to keep one (or more) on hand for those who may need it.

I believe the recommendation of those who have a need, is the best recommendation that can be given.

5.0 out of 5 stars Words of hope for every widow and widower!, April 23, 2008
By
This review is from: Getting Through the Night: Finding Your Way After the Loss of a Loved One (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this wonderful little book when I was desperately looking for words of comfort after the loss of my husband of 43 years. I kept going to book stores and searching for helpful words. Then I found "Getting Through the Night". I found help in the writing of Eugenia Price more than any professional text for the bereaved that was sent to me, or recommended by friends or professionals in the field. Now when a friend loses a loved one, I send them one of these wonderful books hoping that it will do for them what it did for me. Give them HOPE.

It is really too bad that there is no information about this book being a "religious" book. If you are not a believer in God, than this book is going to do its best to convert you at a time when you are vulnerable. I DO NOT like the way this book goes about this. There should be something on the back cover which mentions how Godly this book is. I was really looking forward to getting some insight or advice on dealing with be alone at night. Oh well, support group is probably the next step.
