5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book
When a friend gave this book to me, I thought it was mostly just going to be a humorous book to read. I was more than pleasantly surprised. It is humorous, but it also is one great book. For anyone that struggles with being a people pleaser and doormat this is the book to read. It has some practical and relatively simple advice on how to get rid of the neon flashing...

1.0 out of 5 stars Why Not Just Be Nice to People?
That's the real way to get ahead. Nobody likes self-serving, self-promoting people. Being pleasant to those who are pleasant to you a winning strategy. I sometimes feel very sorry for women due to the intellectual poverty of their self-help books. I cannot imagine worse advice to give to anyone than what this author offers up here. It should be filed under fantasy. The...

When a friend gave this book to me, I thought it was mostly just going to be a humorous book to read. I was more than pleasantly surprised. It is humorous, but it also is one great book. For anyone that struggles with being a people pleaser and doormat this is the book to read. It has some practical and relatively simple advice on how to get rid of the neon flashing doormat sign above your head. I loved it and I'm trying out some of the techniques. Being a counselor, I've read many books about this subject and I must say that I find this one to be of great value- humorous and practical all at once!!

5.0 out of 5 stars IT IS ALWAYS OUT ON LOAN, May 21, 2000
This review is from: Getting in Touch with Your Inner Bitch (Paperback)
My husband gave this book to me as a joke, as a male it was the title that caught his eye. Obviously a book so small is very easy reading but I laughed and laughed. What was being said was so true. Anyone feeling a little low on the injustices of women should read this book. My book is always out on loan, with the understanding that it MUST be returned. I have just submitted an English assignment on 'political correctness' and I used this book. As a woman are you sometimes treated with disrepect, made to feel subserviant or your views dont count, as the book says "I dont think so".

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous and Helpful, June 25, 2004

I have always been a victime of "toxic niceness" and afraid to say no to anyone. After reading this, I realized that it is ok to say no and you don't have to be nicey nicey to people that are mean and hateful. You can't please everyone no matter how hard you try and you don't have to put up with someone treating you like a doormat. After reading this, I am much more confident in standing up for myself and to say "I don't think so"

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and Helpful, February 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Getting in Touch with Your Inner Bitch (Paperback)
This book cured me of my Nice Girl complex and for that I will be forever grateful. (My husband, however, has mixed feelings about it.) The book hilariously exposes the logical fallacy of "Toxic Niceness" and empowers the reader to say what she's really thinking. It seems so obvious in retrospect.

Do you know a gal who's too nice? Do her a favor and give her a copy of this funny and empowering book!

4.0 out of 5 stars I don't think so! has become my mantra., December 20, 2001
This review is from: Getting in Touch with Your Inner Bitch (Paperback)
This book was enormously funny. It is more of a humor book than a self-help book, although much of the advice could be taken seriously. I commend the idea that women should ask for what they want, and say "I don't think so" when they aren't being treated right.

I read this right after my engagement broke off. It had the immense effect of cheering me up and made me look forward to the life ahead of me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enlightening...how wonderful the inner bitch can be.., November 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Getting in Touch with Your Inner Bitch (Paperback)
I have spent my whole life being nice and worrying about what other people think. It's nice to finally see that it's ok to say "I don't think so", to the people who take advantage of you. Toxic niceness is definitely something that has to be stopped. It's time women stand up for what they want and what they don't want. I loved the book...

5.0 out of 5 stars Humor and power work well together, May 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Getting in Touch with Your Inner Bitch (Paperback)
As a thirtysomething woman who grew up with a drive for (and assumption of) success, but without prescribed rules of behavior on how to achieve it, I found the advice in this book invaluable. It's not about artificial constructs or the use of manipulation, but about how honesty and humor are the tools to make jobs and relationships really work. I've given it to more than a handful of friends and relatives, female and male.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great feel good book for all of us bitches., January 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Getting in Touch with Your Inner Bitch (Paperback)
I gave this book to my mom, all five of my blood sisters, my step sisters, my daughter and daughter-in-law, and my sisters-in-laws. We all suffer from toxic niceness and it's time to stop! Humor is truely the best medicine and the laughter has helped my Inner Bitch deal more kindly and honestly with my husband, father, brother, son and son-in-law.

This is a really fun read, but to be honest I preferred her Inner Bitch Guide to Relationships. Whenever I get confused in a relationship, I draw a hot bath and read a chapter or two out of that book. It always reminds me who I am. This book is a good addition to it though, but I think I had already tapped into my inner bitch before I read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not deep. But oh so useful!, December 5, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book provides, in bite-sized pieces, useful and relevant insights and tools to help the average woman take charge of her life.
The women in my household quote it frequently, and occassionally re-read it, especially when entering into a potentially challenging situation (confronting a friend about wrong-doing, job interview, or just balancing how many parties to say "yes" to during the holiday season!)
Buy it. (Ignore the buzz word) Use it. You will be empowered!
