Stan Getz was the greatest sax player who ever lived. Great, not for writing a lot of new tunes, but great for his unfailing ability of create beauty every time he played. Great for the exquisite beauty of his tone. If the first note doesn't sound good, it doesn't matter how many notes someone plays afterwards. Or how original they are. Great, as he grew older, for his ability to put his emotions behind his music.

Yes, I think I personally prefer these songs in the context of their original albums, but there are many people out there who haven't heard them, and may not any other way. If this adds beauty and love to their lives, if this points the way to Stan's other great music, it will have served it's purpose. We need positive vibes!

The technical quality of these recordings varies with their age, Stan Getz career spanned more than 40 years, (herein about 15 of those 40 years ) but it sounds as good it could, considering.

Para Machuchar Meu Coração, O Grande Amor, Corcovado, Girl from Ipanema, Moonlight in Vermont, Here's that Rainy Day, all of which are spendid. No tenor sax player could make a couple feel good like Stan Getz. This is the album to impress old and young for a romantic evening. Stan and Tony Jobim, we miss you.

A romantic blend of Bossa Nova, easy listening and smooth Jazz.

Best for candle-lit late night when you want to create beautiful mood and have a good time with your love one.

His music doesn't really sound like it's from the 60's. It's literally timeless.

Even when you're alone, slipping in a couch and holding a book, it makes a perfect companion.

I believe the 'Getz Effect' can be a useful tool for us to relax and get our minds back to the bright and peaceful state.

In a breathe; you know when you first get a CD, you play it over and over and over for about two or three weeks, then you put it away-Only to pull it out from time to time. I just can't; for the life of me, seem to be able to put this beguiling CD away. I am truly affixed by the intrinsic state I provisionally inherit each and every time I garner my surroundings with the music from this CD. I am literally tethered to the splendor of this CD and all that it entails. Simply stated: If you're looking to settle down after a tough day at the office; than "Getz For Lovers" is exactly what' required-Chardonnay is optional.

In my opinion "Getz For Lovers" is nothing less than a "Magnum Opus".

This was my first Stan Getz CD. I now own over 60. If the opening measure to the first cut, Moonlight in Vermont, does not sweep you away, nothing will. Pure tonal brilliance.

If you can't make it while listening to this take of Corcovado, give up.

Getz is one of the all-time great sax men. Really sets the mood with beautiful pleasing tones and arrangements. Performed with the literal All Stars of Jazz.

Wow, if you are going to play this it had better be with the one you love and don't forget the candle lit table complete with a light meal and plenty of red wine. Get rid of the kids, kick off the shoes and enjoy the evening.

I actually played this music from my car on night as we sat on the beach off the coast of Bahia Concepcion in Baja CA. We were soon slow dancing on the sand with a blanket of stars----This is absolutely hands down some of the best romance music you'll find on one disk by one great artist.

I purchased this cd because my cousin used to listen to Stan Getz, when I was young! I really didn't appreciate
jazz then, but I do now!! This music is so AWESOME, I've never listen to Moonlight in Vermont, so beautifully!!
It was DEFINITELY worth what I paid for it/the FIVE stars I'm giving it!!
