It has a smooth taste for a Medium roast coffee with no bitter after taste.

When you can get the Gevalia k cup to puncture the bottom of their k cup, the needle hits the filter in this poor design and punctures that as well.

I contacted Kraft, told them the lot number and date code on the Gevalia box, and the customer representative said she will send me a refund check.

First of all, I have to say Gevalia Columbian has become my favorite k-cup. The coffee is full-bodied, leaves no bitter aftertaste like some k-cups and the aroma is awesome.

But there is a catch with this particular k-cup as mentioned by others, because of the design the bottom does not puncture as it should when the top of the Keurig is closed over it. I have found the perfect work-around: before you close the Keurig hold the bottom of the basket and gently push the k-cup down with your thumbs until you hear it pop. Minimal effort gives you the reward of one of the best tasting k-cups. I talked to a Gevalia rep on the phone and she said this is a known issue but hopefully they will resolve it in short order.

I recently purchased this from my local Meijer. My first cup was amazing. Tasted great. Second cup was great, but i noticed a 1/8th inch layer of coffee grinds at the bottom of the cup.

Now, 3 cups later, every cup i make is swimming with coffee grinds. I decided to look into the matter. I cut apart one of these K-cups and a normal K-cup sold by Keurig. What i found was the cloth filter inside the Gevalia K-Cup is about 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch longer then the normal K-Cups. This causes the bottom needle to pierce the filter, and allow coffee grinds to flow.

Redesign required Gevalia.

I have had a Keurig brewer for a few years now and tried many different kcup varieties, never have i had any issues with a kcup until i bought the Gevalia brand.I'm not sure if it is due to the ridges in the cup or some other design flaw, but every time I brew, I end up with copious amounts of grounds in my cup. with other kcups, when you remove the used cup, nothing leaks from the bottom, however, when you remove the Gevalia kcup, be ready for a mess all over your counter. i would give no stars if I could.

I bought these last week since my in-laws were visiting and I knew my mother-in-law was a big fan; however, her Keurig machine has recently stopped working so I figured this would be a nice little 'treat' for her visit. We made 3 or 4 cups on Saturday, then went to make a cup on Sunday morning...and for the first time in 2 years OUR Keurig machine didn't function properly. It was acting the same way my in-laws had been (unpredictable coffee sizes, grounds in coffee, coffee / water mess everywhere), I believe it may be something in the ridges of the K-cup that Gevalia uses that doesn't allow the Keurig needle to function properly, which eventually leads to a broken machine. We switched back to our regular coffee and we're back in business since I don't think enough damage was done with the 5 cups of Gevalia we brewed...

Don't get me wrong, the coffee IS good, but if you MUST have this brand I would recommend buying the ground up stuff and a reusable Keurig coffee dispenser until Gevalia fixes the shape of their K-cup.

Apparently, because of the ribbed-cup design, the puncture device on the coffeemaker doesn't always pop a hole in the bottom of the cup, since the ribbed sides of the cup expand as the bottom is pushed up. Hence, water pumps into the cup but cannot go anywhere...except, as it happened just now, back into the reservoir. Yikes! This makes it seem as if the coffeemaker itself is working improperly or broken.

If you have these cups, do not despair; simply pop a small hole into the bottom (compare to the hole in a previous cup that worked), place your "pre-hole" onto the pin, and proceed as usual for a delicious cup-o'-joe.

I assume Gevalia will fix this problem in the future, but if you want to use the cups you have now without damaging your coffeemaker, I suggest following the above steps. It's worth doing, because the flavor of this coffee is so great...otherwise I'd give it one star. I will fix my review when Gevalia fixes their k-cups. I will also buy more of their coffee then. After all, we all make mistakes.

Ribs in k-cup/plastic affect needle. Sometimes machine gets hung up and will not brew. Reports of people's machine's breaking due to these k-cups. Gevalia, pull needs to pull from shelves and redesign. Do NOT purchase until this has been done.

Well, I just finished a cup of Gevalia's Columbia blend (my third cup of coffee today...) but before I give my thoughts on the taste and all that, I would like to talk about the quality control issues. I (also) just got off the phone with a Gevalia sales rep (yes, while drinking their coffee...ha) - I had come here intending to give a 5-star rave about these K-Cups and saw all of the negative reviews. Some were rather concerning.

Personally I haven't had any issues with the K-Cups, and I know people who have long enjoyed them. That said, reports of grounds in coffee, water backing up and even broken machines needed some investigation. I called Gevalia's customer service line, and recounted what I had saw here. It seems that Gevalia is WELL aware of the issues with their K-Cups - I was told by the rep that they had go so far as to ask customers to send in samples of everything for review. To their credit, they seem to be actively working on a solution. A mark against them, however, is that they didn't recall these cups long ago when the first reports of broken machines came back to them. When asked about whether they would redesign the cups to avoid further issues, the CS rep was unable to tell me.

Now I usually won't deduct stars on account of other people's experiences, but since Gevalia (Kraft) has confirmed that they are very ware of this problem, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this product with five stars - I would feel terrible if someone bought them on my recommendation only to have their Keurig explode!

Now, on to the blend itself. This is where Gevalia wins full marks from me. I usually prefer dark roasts (and even espresso roasts for french press) but as far as medium roasts go, this is by far one of my favorites.
