4.0 out of 5 stars This game is fun and funny but is a bit bad for young kids
This game is so fun and funny. I got this game for my birthday a few weeks ago and i loved. It so funny with the one liners from dana gould. But I am warning you do not let people under the age of at least 8 to play because it has bad words in it. My game kept saying the D word over and over and over. I have a five year old brother and he heard the d word and he said over...

2.0 out of 5 stars Review of Gex Enter the Gecko
It's a very long and hard game. If you're going to play it you should plan some time too. Playing the beginning is fun but after playing the same levels with more difficulty (that's practically what it is) it gets boring and frustrating.

But for sure this game is much better than Croc and Croc2.

5.0 out of 5 stars A forgotten gem..., October 3, 2004
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gex: Enter the Gecko (Video Game)
If you talk to an average gamer and mention Gex, he'll probably say, "Gex? Who the hell is Gex?" Let's face it, great games are sometimes forgotten. When it was first released, it got pretty good critizisim from sites and magizines except GameSpot. [Yet again, GameSpot also said Mega Man X4 was for "weirdo platformer fans" damn you GameSpot!] I remember renting this once and loving it, but soon I forgot about it. Then, my friend mentioned it, and I raced to Amazon and bought it.

Graphics: 8/10; For a 1998 game, it looks great! Very colorful, although a little fuzzy in some places.

Sound: 99/10; I love hearing Gex talk! You never know what he'll say next! You might find yourself chuckling as he pokes fun at Bill Gates, Adam Sandler, Tim Burton, Austin Powers, Drew Carey, Full House, Bugs Bunny, and many, many, many more! Almost all quotes are new, but he sometimes says a classic quote from the first game!

Gameplay: 10/10 It combines the fun of many different platformers, [Mostly Super Mario 64] and turns it into a wild ride! GameSpot called it a "SM64 clone" but Banjo Kazzoie was also a SM64 clone and they liked it. Besides, we need more games like SM64. Gex collects remotes in a wide variaty of many massive levels, while Kung-Fu kicking, tail-whipping, bug-slurping his way into all of our hearts. There are also hidden remotes. Some are easy to find, others are quite hard to find. There are also bonus rounds paroding Cops, Indy Jones, Jason, and more...

Story: After defeating Rez in the last one, Gex still is a TV hog, then, a bunch of "goverment goons" show up and tell them that Rez is back, and they want him to go back into the Media Deminsion and defeat him again. Gex refuses, but they offer him a TON of cash if he does it, so he returns into the MD.

Difficulty-Medium to tough

Buy?- Yes. Worth every penny! If you have a Playstation, you must get this. There is a 64 version, but I heard it sucks so stick to the PS version.

4.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING GAME!!, January 4, 2002
By
This review is from: Gex: Enter the Gecko (Video Game)
I was reading these bad reviews for this game yesterday and knew I had to take action. This is one of the best games for Playstation I've ever played! Some people might not like GEX's commentary, but, you can turn off the commentary. Unlike the original GEX where each world has a different theme, each individual level in this game has a different theme - from a demented cartoon land to inside a TV! My dad and I were laughing our heads off at GEX's hysterical comments. I highly recommend this game for people of all ages!
Yours truly, CT900

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the weirdest (but best) games ever!!, June 26, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Gex: Enter the Gecko (Video Game)
Ok, ok, I know I'm a little behind the times, but I just had inspiration. I had borrowed this game from the person who ran my day-care (I was like 6), and I got whimsical. Then I realized DUHH, it's so old it'll be cheap! So I bought it from wherehouse, a third party seller, and got it on 6-25-02. I popped it in, and spent the rest of the day (12:00-8:00) cracking up and having fun.
Pros: Dana Gould did a great job with the one-liners.
Pretty good graphics
Comical level names i.e. smellraiser=hellraiser the umpire strikes out=the empire strikes back

(Only minor, doesn't effect gameplay) Cons: Game keeps repeating Austin Powers imitations, making funny 1-liners rarer than they should be.
Camera isn't that good, but you can easily fix it, never fear.

All in all, it's a great value and I strongly reccommend it. Buh-bye! Gotta go play it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gex: Enter the Gecko and Entering Televisions!, July 19, 2002
By
This review is from: Gex: Enter the Gecko (Video Game)
Right now I have a Playstation 2, but have still kept all of my original Playstation games. I have over 20 Playstation 1 games, and Gex: Enter the Gecko, has got to be one of the best!
For those of you who no nothing about Gex, this is his 2'nd game in a series of 3. He's a smooth-talking, disquise-wearing wise-cracking lizard who is always asked by the CIA to do dangerous missions, and stop Rez, an evil robot.
Also, his levels are set in the Media Dimension, and entire world where Gex can zap into all sorts of shows and movies through television sets. (This happened on account of Gex being a couch patato before this game.)
For instance: If you were to go into a set with a monster movie theme, you'd be inside one of many dark casles with frankinstiens and living dead. He can also play in Cartoon Worlds, Prehistoric Worlds, Space Worlds, Chinese Worlds and quite a bit of secret bounus worlds that you gain as you work twoard acheving 100% on the game.
Gex himself has a comic note at almost every turn and does mocking impersenations of big-time movie stars. Hey, if your main job is being a couch patato, you learn a lot about movies, and in Gex's case, that leads to a funny time to make us snort!
For those of you who do know of Gex, this sequel is as fun and great as the first, only in complete 3-D, not 2-D.
He also has many moves, such as tail wwhacking, karate kicking and tounge licking. Climbing walls is also a key feature to solving puzzles in the Media Dimension.
All in all, this game is tremendous fun, and for an origianal Playstation game, it's graphics are state-of-the-art. This is a must have game and so are all of his others.
In the words of Gex the Gecko: "It's gonna' be Deisha OUCH...all over again."
