Teaches forgiveness,
By A Customer
This review is from: Gh of Bible: Joseph in Egypt [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A surprisingly accurate recounting of Joseph's trials and his faith when his brothers sold him into slavery. The story teaches about strength in faith, that wisdom is God's gift--not our own, and of the power of forgiveness. I am now very interested in viewing the other videos in this series. (Besides all of the above, it was fun to recognize and place some of the actors' faces.)

Joseph in Egypt with a beard and sunstroke,
By Rick (Mpls) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gh of Bible: Joseph in Egypt [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Starring Sam Bottoms (a fair haired Joseph with a beard in Egypt? He looks a little like Bob Larson, former radio demonologist out of Denver), Sorrell Brooke (Dukes of Hazzard), Walter Brooke, Bernie Kopell (Doc from Love Boat, Get Smart) and John Larrouquette (Night Court). The episode chronicles Joseph being sold into slavery by his brothers (Larrouquette is a really tall Hebrew. The only brother of the 12 that had a beard looked very confused and perhaps on mood altering chemicals), bought by Potipher (Kopell: a hen pecked, smarmy official) and eventually becomes 2nd in command of Egypt. Good perfomance by Walter Brooke. Sam Bottoms looks about as non-semite as Abba does with the fair skin and hair. Were there Swedes in Egypt?

Greatest Heroes of the Bible: Joseph in Egypt,

Save your money. Buy used. I could not believe how short the movie is. Joseph is miscast, the scenery is lousy and it is over priced. This is the kind of movie that should be used as a bonus for x numbers of movies bought.

"Joseph in Egypt" (1978),
By Leonard J. Gleeson "Mr. Len Gleeson" (Bayswater, Victoria Australia) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Gh of Bible: Joseph in Egypt [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is quite a good telling of the Biblical story of Joseph the Patriach, part of the late 1970's T.V. films the "Greatest Heroes of the Bible".There were a few minor flaws, such as the story spending too brief a time with Joseph serving in Potiphar's house, and then too long with his time in prison. And the final, all important reconciliation with his brothers is handled in just a few brief minutes. And of course the actors, being familiar T.V. figures of the time, are a bit hard to imagine in that "far away and long ago" story feeling. But, all in all, this is a reasonable account, and is worth viewing. |
