Book Description

The "Ghazal" has long been a part of the literary tradition of Persia. In style, it consists of a number of carefully-crafted stanzas with the author's name appearing in the final one. The ghazals, or poems, included in this collection contain the crystallized philosophy of Sufi Master Molana Shah Maghsoud Sadegh Angha (Professor Angha). Writing at the young age of 23, Professor Angha's words were a fair reflection of his life at the time, and the life he was to unfold. Based originally on a Persian form, they should be treasured simply as beautiful poetry by those people seeking a meaningful way of life. Contents: Introduction; Selections from Ghazaliat; Chants; Glossary; Genealogy of Maktab Tarighat Oveyssi Shahmaghsoudi (School of Islamic Sufism) and list of works by the author.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Written in the traditional style of love poems, the Ghazaliat is a classic guide to the heart of Sufism. Evoking the wonderful language of erotic and spiritual love which characterizes the works of the renowned thirteenth century Sufi, Rumi, Professor Angha skillfully unfolds the mysteries of the existence by revealing spiritual love at its most profound level, with all its accompanying beauty, ecstasy, and awe: "Like the clouds my being expands/O'erhead; and turns into tears; then like a spree/Of budding, blooming, blossoms, with deep delight,/I laugh; until such a time that, with the key of Your love/My heart and soul blossom, to truly strike/The treasure in the earth!" --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

This book is an outstanding example of someone who has fallen in the essence of truth, and is drowning in it!!! The words of love oose out of this book, and encapture an expirience that only someone with complete and utter stableness could have! I loved it, and it made me want to rejoice in song!!!
