Ordered this item to see if I'd get a real one, but the one I received was counterfeit. It was made in China and didn't have any of the information to register it. Pay the extra $40 and get it from Sephora, that way you know it's real and the warranty will be valid, that's where I'm headed! (even if you can register it, ghd will not honor the warranty since it was purchased on Amazon)

I had some concern that this iron was counterfeit. I had purchased knockoff CHI irons (unbeknownst to me) on this site before. Fortunately, as I found, GHD has a verification tool on their site. Take the time to register your iron there to make sure it's not a fake [...] As far as the iron itself, it is a sturdy, quality iron that heats up lightning fast. It even has a beep to let you know it's ready to go. I especially love the 30 minute, automatic shut-off feature, a must for forgetful people like me ;)

I ordered this product as a gift for my wife last Christmas. It worked wonderful for about 3 months and then the electrical cord started making noises every time it was moved. After a few weeks of that it just wouldn't turn on. I have nothing against the product name just ASAP Beauty which is the company that I bought it through on Amazon. I learned my lesson and will buy directly from the company itself or a registered store carrying their product. STAY AWAY FROM ASAP BEAUTY unless you want to spend more money a few months later. You've been warned.

Based on some of the reviews, I was concerned whether the product that would show up would be the real deal or a cheap knock off. My wife had previously bought this from one of the sellers here, and that turned out to be counterfeit. That unit went bad in less than 3 months. So I decided to get a replacement for her birthday. Ordered it directly from Amzn, not one of the other sellers here. The unit that arrived is 100% authentic and works great. I guess that explains the mixed reviews from previous buyers.

After reading all the cautionary tales about fakes I ordered this gift for my wife directly from Amazon to avoid the problem of unscrupulous sellers. To our dismay the item Amazon shipped us appears to be a counterfeit since we can't register it on ghd's site. Also, the box says that it was "Manufactured in P.R.C." whereas everything else I've read says the real ones are made in South Korea. I'm very disappointed that Amazon doesn't have better control over its supply chain. Caveat Emptor!

I was worried that this might* be fake..but it's REAL! I entered the code and said "You're the chosen ONE". According to the other viewers, don't buy GHD from anyone other than "AMAZON LLC". That's exactly what I did and it's REAL.

I've always use a cheap conair flat iron ..It always snag my hair. I thought all flat iron are the same $30 vs $200, both has ironic place and same size..why pay more?
After using the GHD the 1st time, I will NEVER go back using my conair. HUGE different...I wash my hair, spray in leave in conditioner and once it's dry I spray heat protectant spray and then I flat iron. You do NOT need to go over the GHD twice..1 is enough. Took me 15mins and I have LONG hair(down to my waist). BTW, no snagging, heat up in seconds and I will never relax my hair again!

The item I received was 100% counterfit. There should be a serial number on the tag, which there wasn't. I crossed my fingers that I wouldn't receive a fake, after reading several reviews from people who had received fakes, but no luck. Amazon should do a better job of screening 3rd party sellers especially after numerous complaints such as this. Even though I can return it (at Amazon's expense), it's still annoying and takes time out of my day that I could be doing something else. I'd recommend you buy this from an authorized dealer.

I got this flat iron after my Chi stopped working and I had hear from a few people that GHD makes a really nice flat iron. I decided to take the plunge and try something new. I received it and used it a few times and it was taking me twice as long to straighten my hair because I had to go over it so many times because it didn't get nearly as hot as the CHI apparently. My hair would also be wavy later in the day because it didn't do as good of a job I guess. I returned it to Amazon for a refund and am getting a CHI that I know will do what is made for and what I pay $125 for!

I purchased a GHD flat iron last October for personal use. It worked for a year then developed a short in the swivel cord. I love the product but felt for the price it should have worked for longer that 1 year.

I have not used this item, nor will I given my hair is only about an inch long; however, I am sure my wife will use it after she gets it as a Christmas present.

I only wanted to post this review to say I had a concern that the product might be a knockoff (even though it was coming straight from Amazon), but I registered it with ghd and it is a legit product. I will update the review later when she uses it. Hope this helps other buyers!
