4.0 out of 5 stars Ole Soul
This young man definately has a ole soul and his music definately reflects that sentiment. This could have easily been five stars for me however, the explicit lyrics in a few songs were just unneccessary, the rap influence could have been downplayed somewhat as well, the Paul Wall collabo was not bad mostly because it was sutle and complementary. 3.0 out of 5 stars more like 3 1/2 stars!
If he just stuck to singing and not trying to be a rapper it would be a great album! The fact that he placed a change is gonna come right before a rap song is just ridiculous! I think he needs to get some better matreial. And stick to singing!!!! Just want to add his rendition of change gonna come was just awesome!!!!

I understand that he is trying to sell records and wants to appeal to the hip hop crowd but the 30 and over stations are playing his music so if he just has a little patience and stick to what he does without trying to appeal to the hip hop audience I think he has the potential for longevity. Another thing start making albums that don't have an advisory label after all his an R&B singer, who could present himself as a young man with class easily. Just keep it R&B baby, none of the classic R&B crooners EVER had explicit labels on their music and these guys like Jaheim, Lyfe Jennings need to understand that because John Legend does, he just picked up 2 maybe 3 Grammy's for 2005. But nevertheless, Urban Mystic is a bad brother. And these Ghetto references have got to go especially when it comes to your album titles, demystify that whole connotation, please. All that said 3 stars is just average and this material is far better than that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! Solid vocal performances on most songs!, June 17, 2006
This review is from: Ghetto Revelations 2 (Audio CD)
After hearing Urban Mystic's album, I went wow! This fellow's got talent! I missed the other albums he did before, but this singer's very good vocally. He sounds sharp on the first five funky numbers before changing it up to such soulful ballads in I Refuse, Your Portrait and When U Hurt. I liked the deep messages in Let's Make a Change with Trick Daddy as Trick writes his most thought provoking lyrics to date on what African Americans need to do to better themselves. Urban dabbles on rapping on a few numbers, and actually pulls it off with the rappers on here. I loved his soulful remake of Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come. The lyrics are explicit on some numbers, but they complement with Urban's style and don't overlap with his singing. Urban's singing is very sharp. You can hear the influences of soul singers Bobby Womack and K-Ci of Jodeci in his voice. This is another good album that I've listened to this year!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just AMZING!!, August 24, 2006
This review is from: Ghetto Revelations 2 (Audio CD)
This cd is not at all what I thought it was going to be. It is actually better. He knows how to capture the attention of many women. The lyrics to most of the songs on the album are beautiful. He says all the things that a woman wishes that a man would say and mean it. Men take notes from this man!!! He knows what to say!!

This cd was worth the money. The variety of music is great. There are velvety smooth slow jams and music that forces you out of your seat.

It's a shame that Urban Mystic is not advertised better. He needs to change record labels. He has a great voice but many people have not heard of him. His first ablum was off the tracks and the follow up is right behind it. Check him out.

if you are thinking about getting this classic, do so. This is one of those timeless CDs. I am extremely picky when it comes to music. I can honestly say I would recommend this one. This CD is a little different from the last one, but who says change has to be a bad thing. Now go get yo basket and drop this one in.

3.0 out of 5 stars relly like 3.6 stars. i give it a C., April 7, 2006
This review is from: Ghetto Revelations 2 (Audio CD)
Ok this CD is not as good as his last one. He shoulda stuck to singing instead to trying to rap. Ok this is not a bad CD so please dont misunderstand me bc it's got some good stuff on it but his first one had more of an ol school soul vibe to it. This one he tried hard to fit in with that in crowd. There are some tight tracks such as the lead single(it's you), i refuse, my block, and i also like that cut wit track daddy. there were other songs i like but those are the 4 best. If you have his first album which was awesome you will see why this one is getting lower ratings.
