4.0 out of 5 stars Get ready for Ghetto Warfare, February 26, 2008
This review is from: Ghetto warfare (Audio CD)
In case you dont know, this album is mainly a collection of M.O.P's unrealeased stuff(pre-G-unit) and certain songs that you've heard before. Yeah, just like Krs-One's D.I.G.I.T.A.L. Before I get to the good let me x out the bad first. Welcome Back is just Teflon by himself but the wacky beat makes it seems as if he was rapping off-beat. Fire has a sluggish beat that doesnt compliment M.O.P's rowdy style of rapping making it easily skippable. The two interludes on here are just stupid. Other than that this Cd is great. Everybody has probably heard Stomp The S*** Out Ya feat CNN because it was also on the soundtrack for Cradle 2 The Grave. Roc La Familia features Jay-z, Beanie Sigel and a weak appearance by Memphis Bleek. Jay-z would also appear on Put It In The Air and is it me or is that beat similar to the breakdown beat on Eric Be and Rakim's Microphone Fiend? Got To Go might stir up some controversy because in the first couple of bars they speak on Loud Records in an unfavorable way. Instigator, Live From Ground Zero, F*** M.O.P, Muddy Waters, G-Boy Stance and Bkny are vintage M.O.P tracks from the M.O.P we know and love. Bottom Line: Ghetto Warfare should hold M.O.P fans till their official albums drop(whenever that may be). The production is good and M.O.P still hold you down with their vivid delivery. Its a shame that these unscrupulous record labels are treating these rap gods like D-list rappers. They're over and above the heads of these bubble gum rappers that are out now. Standouts: ROC LA FAMILIA, INSTIGATOR, F*** M.O.P, STOMP THE S*** OUT YA, PUT IT IN THE AIR, WANNA BE G'S, LIVE FROM GROUND ZERO, MUDDY WATERS, G-BOY STANCE and BKNY.
