As an animator, I have incredible respect for Miyazaki and the works of Studio Ghibli. I would expect to pay well over $100 for a collection of all the major movies they've released, so when I saw this, my first reaction was really doubtful. I figured it was an art book, or at best maybe the more obscure movies nobody's heard of. But the reviews seemed positive, so I bought one. Turned out to be completely beyond expectations! It has all the movies I've loved, like Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away, and all the ones my colleagues always talk about and have recommended.

The quality is DVD-level, so no high definition blu-ray or anything, which might bother some people. And the packaging feels like I'm on the edge of snapping the DVDs when I wrench them out of the case. I'm probably just bad at it. I tend to be bad at things, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's easier for other people.

Item is actually as described and arrived on time. The quality of the movies is excellent for DVD. Though there are some other collections with one more movie and artwork, I think this is a great value.

The item arrived promptly and it was exactly as advertized.
As much as I enjoy reading subtiles, it tends to detract from the whole viewing experience.
The english dubbing allows our eyes to relax and soak in the animation that much more.
17 Ghibli films for the price of two Ghibli films at Be$tBuy? Enough said.
Thanks for providing this convenient collection.

Fantastic collection. Miyazaki created wonderful tales of whimsy and magic - much like Disney - but Ghibli movies actually have three dimensional characters and positive messages for young girls.

BUT - obviously there is a catch, because selling nearly an entire collection of movies from an acclaimed director for such a low price means it's too good to be true. The quality is quite poor - much like what another reviewer mentioned. At best its grainy and at worst it's terribly pixelated; which is quite a shame when viewing one of the artistic masterpieces like Princess Mononoke with beautiful compositions by Joe Hisashi. I bought this collection so I could have all the studio Ghibli movies available to me; now I can watch all of them and purchase my favorites individually, at their best quality.

Also, be warned - the subtitles in english are often wrong. Very wrong. Not sure why you would want to watch subtitles when it's dubbed anyway...

When I saw the price of this product, I thought it was too good to be true. Now that I have it, I think it is a great buy! You get 17 Studio Ghibli films for only $33 (after shipping). What's not to appreciate?

Here's what I liked about it: I ordered this to be delivered to a U.S. military base in Okinawa, Japan, and it arrived within a week (estimated delivery time was six to eight weeks). The packaging has a nice design and looks good on the shelf (if you're into that sort of thing). For the price, I was expecting these to be Japanese-only with indecipherable Engrish subs. However, it turns out that audio is available in English and Japanese, and it includes grammatically correct subs in natural native English. The English audio still has the same celebrity voices as the versions released in the U.S. by Disney. My favorite thing about the whole packages is that you get 17 (mostly) family friendly movies for about $2 a piece!

My only disappointment was in the DVD video quality. The video was slightly pixelated on my HDTV, which detracted from the beauty of the artwork and animation, but it was still watchable. If quality is a major concern for you, I would recommend getting this so you can watch all of the movies until you have time to collect the Blu-rays one by one. (Each one will cost almost as much as this whole set.)

Is it a perfect product? No. Would I recommend it? For only $33, hells yes, I would recommend it!

Great collection set for any Ghibli fan ! All disked are packed into this one set. Though I wish there was a Blu-ray collection, I am very happy with this. DVD's are cheaper than Blu-ray's anyways. And it would be best to buy this collection ASAP since the announcement of Studio Ghibli not making anymore movies. Best to get it cheap now than when they raise the price due to the announcement !

I still can't believe that I purchased this so cheaply...it was definitely worth it. The movies are GREAT QUALITY for this price!!! I also love the case that it came in.

The only thing is that the English subtitles turn on by default, and they are mostly wrong. You can go to the settings to turn them off, but each disc has 2 or 3 movies and they play one after the other, and even if you turned off the subtitles before playing the first one, they come back on when the second movie starts.

It really doesn't matter, though! That's one minor mistake, and everything else about the collection is perfection! ;D I am very happy with this :)))

I bought this collection a little while ago, and I was concerned because some of the reviewers said that the quality was poor. But I figured 17 movies for $33 bucks (shipping)...well, I could live with it. I have played every single movie in this collection, and I can attest to the fact that this is the real deal -- all the movies played fine. The quality is good for DVD; I played them in a Blu-Ray/DVD player and encountered no problem whatsoever. So don't let any of the poor reviews deter you -- this is a fantastic collection!
