A big disappointment,
This review is from: The Ghirardelli Chocolate Cookbook (Paperback)
I really did expect more from Ghirardelli. I am an extremely experienced baker and I do all the baking every day for my café, but few of these recipes worked. A better bet would be Maida Heatter's Chocolate, or Nick Malgieri's.

I've made several recipes from this cookbook. Some have turned out to be my favorite recipes and I will continue to bake those recipes forever after. Some other recipes have not turned out so good but alot of that has to do with opinion. I don't believe that anybody could like every single recipe in any book. Odds are there will be recipes that just do not interest you. There is a drink section in this cookbook that I have no interest in and I have not even looked at the recipes. BUT there is an awesome brownie recipe that honestly is the best brownies I have ever eaten. (And I have made tons of different brownie recipes). The thing is - the recipe calls for a Ghirardelli chocolate powder that is a little different than regular cocoa so you kind of have to use that ingredient. Another awesome recipe is the English Toffee. Very easy and wonderful. It's a small book but it's attractive and the recipes are simple. It would make a great gift for a chocolate lover. I recommend it if you just want another book to add to your cookbook collection or if you specifically like Ghirardelli but if you want a bigger selection of chocolate dessert recipes then look elsewhere. It's limited.

My favorite recipe is the Crunchy Mud Pie. Out of this world flavor. I have only had rave reviews when I have made this for family and friends

Good, But Not Definitive,

This review is from: The Ghirardelli Chocolate Cookbook (Paperback)
The recipes contained on the inside of the wrapping on a Ghiradelli chocolate cooking bar are fantastic. The recipes in this book don't quite live up to the free recipes. Many of the recipes in this book are good; others make one wonder, "what's all the fuss about?" I agree with what several other reviewers have said, that if you want the definitive chocolate cookbook, this isn't it.
