Book Description

A brand new cozy mystery series from the New York Times Bestselling Author of the Donut Shop Mysteries and the Classic Diner Mysteries, Jessica Beck!

When Christy Blake loses one of her two cats, Midnight, and her boss in what looks like a robbery attempt at her secondhand shop, Memories and Dreams, she thinks it's the end of the world. But Midnight isn't ready to go anywhere just yet, so he comes back as a ghost cat to help her track down his killer. Clearly there is a bond between Christy and Midnight that is too strong to be broken by something as trivial as death.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't wait for more Ghost Cat Mysteries! January 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I first saw this ebook pop up on Amazon on Friday, I immediately downloaded it and put my scheduled reading on hold. I devoured it this weekend and already can't wait for Book 2 so I can spend more time with Christy, Shadow, and especially sweet little Midnight.

Christy works at a secondhand shop, Memories and Dreams, and is devastated by the recent murder of her boss and beloved cat Midnight. She's in such a state of grief that at first she thinks she's going crazy when Midnight's ghost appears to her, but she soon realizes he's come back to lead her to his killer. I picked up on a clue early on that led me to figure out the murderer, but that in no way took away from my enjoyment of the story. This short mystery contains a wonderful secondary cast including Christy's BFF, a promising love interest, and a town full of interesting characters with secrets of their own.

It looks like Midnight has returned to his beloved mistress and plans to stick around for awhile; I know I can't wait to see what further adventures they will have together.

4.0 out of 5 stars very readable February 21, 2013
By RDC
Format:Kindle Edition
the book is a fun entry into the cozy genre. i think you probably really need to be a cat person to get it, though. my own cat died recently so i probably related better than most, but that aside the mystery was okay and other than being a little judgemental the heroine likeable. the secondary characters were the best thing in the book. i hope Ms. Beck writes more in the series.

It couldn't keep me going through the first chapter. Very slow moving, very slow start so it lost me fast

3.0 out of 5 stars Way too short February 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the story but finished it in an hour or so. I thought it was a full book and was very disappointed. Everything just moved too fast and there was little character development. I liked the premise enough that I'll probably read the next one - but perhaps just in a bookstore

3.0 out of 5 stars Ghost Cat April 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was okay but the characters were not very believable or memorable and the writing style was lacking for me. I have several cats and dogs that I love a lot so I was looking foward to novel involving a "ghost" cat. I think the author was trying to show how much the main character loved and missed her deceased cat, but was a little heavy handed and didn't feel genuine.

2.0 out of 5 stars Far below her usual standard... May 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Written by Carolyn Bragg

Jessica Beck? Her books are great...but not this time. It seemed like she phoned it in and kept losing her place. Characters were flat and colorless and they looked everywhere except AT the clues that were clearly pointed out with neon signs. I started talking to them outloud! The main character replayed unnecessary explanations and scripts of self doubt so often that I was tempted to skip over them...uh, repeatedly.

Ghostly cat antics I can go for, but the minute-by-minute coverage just made the editor look bad. I think the initial idea for the book was promising, but I doubt that the author herself liked this book. Giving a book only two stars may seem harsh but I expected a lot more than I got from this one. Let's let all good kitties rest in peace.

2.0 out of 5 stars pretty lame and predictable June 13, 2013

Not an original premise; boring characters, dialogue asinine. Started skipping pages to get through it. Only gave it two stars because I like cats.
