Heartwarming stories about cats and the people who love them,
By
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
I loved this book and the stories in them. These stories are true, or at least one is true and I know this because my story is one of them. I could not put this book down once I started it--the people and the cats are wonderful, the names are wonderful, the almost-always sweet encounters between people and cat spirits are wonderful. And I needed to read this book because last October my two dear cats, Huckleberry and Scamper, disappeared within 8 days of each other (displaced suburban coyotes being the most likely culprits). I was still grieving when I read this book and I often found myself teary-eyed and sniffling as I read the different heartwarming stories. But by the end, I was on my way to accepting their deaths and believing that they are still out there, somewhere in the great beyond, loving and being loved. Whether you love ghost stories or cat stories (or now, a combination of both), you'll find GHOST CATS a treasure to read. It's a keeper.

Spectral felines,
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
If you're looking for ghost stories of the creepy things-that-go-bump-in-the-night variety, then Dusty Rainbolt's GHOST CATS is not for you. Things feline do go bump in the night in the true accounts in this book, but they do so in the most loving, heart-felt way imaginable -- proof positive that the heart that is loved does indeed remember. There's Tigger, the orange tomcat who spends his afterlife patrolling his owners' house, jumping up on their beds and rubbing his whiskers against their faces. There are the cats who flit in and out of sight at the 100-year-old house of the vet who treated them in this life. And there are Kochka, Omar, Sooz, and a slew of other feline ghosts who stopped back one last time to let their grieving owners know they were OK. Yes, this is a book you can't put down, but it's also one that you'll find yourself picking up time and again to remind yourself that "[t]his world is not conclusion." Far from it, as the cats in this book go to show.

Intriguing, inspiring, and comforting,
By Betsy Stowe (Slippery Rock, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
"Ghost Cats" chronicles numerous paranormal encounters of the feline kind, but the author reveals as much about the power of the heart as she does about the power of the spirit. The book is well-written, well-researched, and a complete joy to read.

A Comforting Look at Our Late Felines,
By
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
Dusty Rainbolt's book, Ghost Cats, was not at all spooky or scary (at least to me) as a few other readers have thought. I felt very comforted by the fact that our beloved kitties do not forget us when they are gone. And the fact that they do come back to check on us and to even say "goodbye" is a warm feeling for those of us whose hearts are so broken. I truly believed the stories in this book and all the "ghostly" appearances our feline friends make before going over the Rainbow Bridge forever -- to wait for us to join them someday. This book is on my Must-Read book list!!!

Wonderful Read,
By Animal Rescuer (Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits is not a book to be missed! Dusty did a wonderful job with this somewhat controversial subject. And the stories submitted by people will bring tears to your eyes by the depth of love between them and their deceased feline family members. I have a story in there about one of my favorite cats and it still brings tears to my eyes as well as a sense of well being when I recall what happened that night Harrison passed to the Rainbow Bridge.

A good read for cat lovers!,
By Akeybear (Yakima, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
I liked reading this book because there were many instances of seeing a ghost cat under different circumstances. From being a warning, to just saying goodbye, this was a good read from beginning to end. It was comforting also to know I was not the only one to have such an experience, that our animals friends do communicate with us while on this earth and also when departed.

Phantom felines,

This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
Ms. Rainbolt has done a great job with this one. The stories are interesting, entertaining, and leave you wanting more. They also take some of the creapy out of those weird night noises. After all, it just might be an old friend going for an accustomed prowl. A must read for any cat lover and for anyone interested in the odd and unexplained.

Spooky true stories,
By
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
Being a cat lover and liking a good ghost story, this book really hit home. Its not just that the stories give you a tingle, but that they are all true. Just as some encounter spirits of people, these stories tell of those who find themselves in contact with the spirits of felines.
As usual, Ms. Rainbolt's writing style is smooth and carries you from page to page. The book is a good read and leaves you with the impression that maybe, just maybe, your beloved kitty is watching you from the Beyond.

Cat Readers Absolutely Should Read This,
By
This review is from: Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits (Paperback)
I stayed up very late finishing up this delightful book in one go. Having had some experiences of my own with ghostly cat visits, I was absolutely pleased to find out that these occurrences are not at all unheard of. The stories made me smile and laugh, and a couple even had me thinking, uh-oh, I'm going to start bawling in a minute. (To this day, even THINKING of the ending of "Where the Red Fern Grows" has me crying hysterically.) Having great-grandpa returning from beyond the grave? Horrifying (as are most family visits). But having a pet come back to you post-mortem to pursue her old routines -- quite matter-of-factly and with no particular drama -- reaffirms the great love and attachment you and she felt for each other. I'm so glad Dusty Rainbolt collected these personal accounts and published them. Let's hope she writes another volume! As you can see from all these other customer reviews, she'd find a happy audience for them.
