Book Description

Book 1 in the City of Doors Series. Wolf of Doors (Book 2) coming soon!

Seventeen-year-old Wolfgang Schaefer's only chance to escape the city of Doors and the doppelganger out to kill him is to find the one door that accepts humans. While searching, Wolfgang uncovers a secret which makes him doubt everything he thought was true about himself, his missing father, and the motives of the supernatural factions who rule the city. Together with a horse called Pilgrim and his best friend the seductive, blond changeling Marie, Wolfgang realizes that escape might not be possible without turning into the thing he hates most—a monster.

This is a gripping, fresh page-turner for young adults that you will not forget from a new author just waiting for you to discover her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghost of Doors by Jennifer Paetsch is a good read February 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a story about a guy, Wolfgang, who desperately attempts to hold on to his humanity in a world where humanity and all that is stable is rapidly disappearing. Although two very different stories, this book reminds me a bit of the Gunslinger series by Stephen King, in the sense that you have a band of unlikely heroes looking and passing through doors to alternative universes and are largely responsible for saving the world. Although it was written for young adults, I enjoyed it a great deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Worth a Read April 19, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Ghost of Doors is an engaging adventure worthy of a read. The characters are well defined, the book is well-written, and the premise exciting and interesting. I found it to be worth the price of admission, and then some. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite an entertaining read March 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
One of the well-written YA vampire stories I've recently read, Jennifer Paetsch's `Ghost of Doors' is about a teenage boy who has to use his wits and instincts not only to escape a supernatural trap but also evade his murderous doppelganger. The book opens with Wolfgang Schaefer in the middle of a life-threatening dilemma, and not even his best friend Marie or his talking horse Pilgrim could help him solve his way out of it. Or so it seems. You find yourself gripping the edge of your seat (if you're reading this on a Kindle device) as one seemingly innocuous secret unravels another more sinister--until every subsequent thing Wolfgang uncovers leads to a mounting arpeggio of revelations that compel the boy to question the nature of power that governs the world in which he lives--and subsequently, to question his very existence.

I have read quite a number of other vampire or supernatural novels, but what sets apart `Ghost of Doors' from other novels of a similar genre is the quality of the writing. Paetsch has a good ear for dialogue as well as an uncanny skill to paint the color of the scene. She knows how to dangle enough bait to keep the reader turning the pages until the very end.

If you're looking for a nice, good, quick entertaining read, pick up or download a copy of `Ghost of Doors'--it will not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic Fantasy Told with Style and Skill December 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ghost of Doors wastes no time thrusting the reader right into the middle of the action--and what action it is! In a highly imaginative narrative, author Jennifer Paetsch leads the reader on a breathtaking and magical adventure. Plot twists abound, and as I read the book, I continually wondered, "What will happen next?" Wolfgang is a young man in a world of fairies and changelings, vampires and zombies. Not sure which way to turn at first, as the story unfolds, Wolfgang begins to realize the full depth and scope of the forces assembled against him. His becomes a personal quest--to free his father from a prison far worse than bars and steel, and to bring together a team of allies to fight against the tyranny in their midst. With a prose style that is often lyrical and always compelling, Ms. Paetsch invites the reader to join Wolfgang and his friends on a journey you won't soon forget!

5.0 out of 5 stars A book worth reading November 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Looking at the cover of this book I did not think it would be that great of read, but I was very surprised by the author's descriptive manner.

It felt like a twist of Superman meets Harry Potter and I was enthralled and felt like there were so many possibilities of where Wolfgang would end up and how he would end up there.

I'm not usually a sci-fi type of person, but this was a page-turner.
