5.0 out of 5 stars Ghost of Fossil Glen
This was an awesome book by Cynthia Defelice. Our class thought this was an exciting book and it was as if Allie was on a mission. We could picture the setting in our heads, since we live near Glen's very similar to that one in the book. We did not want to stop reading as we went along. We recommend this book to everyone because we liked it. Cynthia Defelice kept us in...

3.0 out of 5 stars A spooky mystery in Fossil Glen
Allie Nichols has an active imagintion. When she tells people like Karen about the ghost they don't believe her.The voice did save her, but what did it want from Allie? I would highly recommend this book to anyone. It was a fabulous, suspenseful ghost story. By Jackie

4.0 out of 5 stars Barbara's Review, January 13, 2006
A Kid's Review
I liked the book. It was exciting and you never know what's going to happen next.
Allie Nichols is eleven and is in the sixth grade. She is stuck on a ledge about 100ft. up. She hears a soothing voice and trusts it right away, and lets herself slide. She only has a few cuts and her hands were raw. She tells Karen and Pam about the voice but they think she's a liar. Her friend Dub listens intently with great interest. She hears the voice more and in one of her dreams she witnesses the first part of Lucy's death. Lucy is the ghost that is haunting her. She had died four years previously. Later she finds Lucy's diary in her new desk that once belonged to Lucy. That's when she finds out about Gag-me. (Raymond Gagne) She thinks that he had murdered Lucy. Did he really murder Lucy or was her death really an accident?
The type of person who would like this book is some one who likes mysteries, ghost stories, or both. It's a really good book.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Ghost of Fossil Glen, December 16, 1999
By A Customer
The book I am reviewing is The Ghost of Fossil Glen. It was written by Cynthia DeFelice. The Ghost of Fossil Glen is about a girl named Allie Nichols. One day a ghost starts following her around after she gets stuck on a cliff and the ghost tells her how to get down. She tries to figure out why the ghost is following her. I think this book was excellent. I think the author did really good at writing this book. The characterization was good because she gave a lot of details about the characters and I felt that I really knew the main character. I think the authors style was really good because I didn't know what was going to happen and there weren't any boring or slow parts. One of the books weakness is the setting. didn't really know where she was and what her surroundings looked like, but the author was really good with the mood because the book was suspenseful all the time. I think this book is really good, and if your interested in this kind of book, you should read it.

4.0 out of 5 stars On the Edge, April 17, 2001

I read this book to my third grade students every year in the spring. They absolutely love it. It is full of suspense and mystery, which keeps them hooked. They beg me every day to read more. I find them checking it out of the library and buying it to add to their collection. It keeps their imaginations working and their minds active.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kelsey's Review, November 16, 2000
A Kid's Review
I loved "Ghost Of Fossil Glen" I give it 5 out of 5 stars because I like ghost stories and mysteries. If you like those things you will love "Ghost of Fossil Glen". The book is mainly about a 11 year old girl named Allie Nichols. A ghost is haunting her. Who is the ghost? What does it want? And why is it after Allie? Read the book to find out what happened.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Mystery for Middle Graders, May 19, 2000
My daughter received this book as a Christmas present from her 4th grade teacher (a nun). I have to admit that she knew it was a page-turner. I couldn't get my child to put it down! The parents who were offended by the subject matter should read this story again -- there's a lot for kids to learn about in this book, like friendship, trust, doing the right thing, and parental relationships. Plus, its a great story!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like ghost books you will love this one!!, October 21, 1999

My fifth grade teacher Ms. Williams is almost finished this book. It is great how Allie is so brave to face the killer of Lucy Stiles. Every day when we are out of time everyone asks (Just one more page?.) It is the best book she has read! THANKS MS. WILLIAMS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book - for older kids, August 31, 2001
By A Customer
I read this because it was the book my son selected from the 6th grade reading list. It was an excellent book - successfully combining elements of 6th grade life with an extraordinary unusual experience. However I think maybe 5th grade is about the youngest I would recommend it for. The way the ghost had met her end and the subsequent threat to the story's heroine are disturbing. I liked the way the story dealt with the 'friends', the Machiavellian life of the average 6th / 7th grader - but without making this the main focus of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful new ghost story, January 7, 2010
A Kid's Review
I like this book because it is very suspenseful and scary but also at the same time it has the ingredients to make the reader want to keep reading it. It seemed like a new, modern ghost story to me. It has a great ending, except I wish that there was a second book and it was in a series (even though it's not a series). I especially like the diary of Lucy (I am L). I have the same feeling as Allie -- that when we're reading the diary it does feel like Lucy's talking to her (and to me). It's a very well-written book. It's not only for fifth or sixth grade -- I'm in second grade and I loved it. And don't think I'm like 10 in second grade either -- I just turned 8! As I said before, it's a wonderful and very well-written book. Highly recommended!
