Very interesting plots, intriguing characters, nice twists.

The art work is okay too, I just wished I had the English dubbed version to watch instead of the subtitles version!

The art style is different than most of the anime out there, in a good way.

Ghost Hound is a very difficult anime for me to categorize, genre-wise. Although it is listed as horror, I would say that it is very much more of a mystery, with a healthy heaping of atmospheric horror thrown in (Uzumaki this is not!). It's not scary so much as suspenseful, and occasionally a bit surreal. The description says that this short series is about a kidnapping, which is true, but there is so much more going on than just that! If I were to say anything else, though, then it would definitely spoil all the twists and turns the story takes. I would go so far as to recommend that you not even read the episode descriptions if you can, although on Amazon they are quite short and not super spoiler-y. I found the experience of piecing together everything that I learned extremely enjoyable, although I felt that things were explained appropriately as the episodes went along, too.

The art is good, and the characters by and large feel pretty well fleshed out by the time you reach the end. The music is appropriately atmospheric when it is present, the voice actors are not obnoxious at all, and throughout the series ambient sounds are used quite effectively to heighten the mood--in this way, this series is really great to watch on the computer because you can fully take advantage of your headphones to catch every subtle noise. The pacing is also quite good, so I felt like episodes neither dragged nor particularly rushed. If you prefer your anime subbed you are in luck, since that appears to possibly be your only option (which was a pleasant change).

This is a dark and moody story about 3 teenagers who are all suffering from PTSD and have learned from their traumas how to have out of body experiences. The writing is tight, the voice acting (please stick with the subs) is superb and the animation is top flight. Like all anime, there are light moments and perhaps the end is too happy, but if you want a bit more in your story line, check it out. Feel free to gloss over the psychobabble.

This has the best jazz soundtrack in all of Japan. Watch it just for that and you will be fine. The mythos around the spirit plane is inspired. The characters, while a little stereotyped, are well rounded by the end of the series. The plot is not new, but well done. Watch it, listen to it, enjoy Ghost Hound.

So much interesting information about the brain, limbic system, how they work, and then so much more about theories of mind, mental disorders, woven so beautifully into a haunting tale. The artwork was stunning and beautiful, so together with the fascinating and educational aspects, I really couldn't look away. Of course, if I looked away, I couldn't read the subtitles. However, I was so wrapped up in the story that I frequently forgot that I don't speak Japanese, and would forget to read!! That says something too about the hypnotic spell this show wove around me.

Very interesting and captivating. A lot of thoughtful scientific backup and explanation mixed in with Japanese folk lore. Kept me captivated throughout. Well done. I highly recommend it.

I was surprised that I liked this anime based on the morbid backstory. I tried it based on Amazon's rec and I thought my husband would like it. It takes a couple of episodes to learn the backstory of the characters, but then it is easy to understand. Every episode leaves me wanting to watch another to find out more. I haven't finished the series yet so I don't know if the ending is statisfying.

This story includes a lot of history in psychology (because the counseling the main character needs) and Japanese folklore.

Update: the ending was mostly satisfying, but still leaves us wondering about a few things.

Has a good story line. I was disappointed how it felt as though it staged in some areas. Also not impressed with soundtrack.

Very interesting plots, intriguing characters, nice twists. I just kind of stumbled over it, but was hooked with the first episode.
