What Did Jesus Really Say-How Christianity Went Astray: [What To Say To A Born Again Christian Fundamentalist, But Never Had The Information] -- by Peter Cayce [2005] I've been watching Ghost Hunters (via satellite and in the States) from almost the very beginning. I've now seen the original programs and have read the books of Jason and Grant too. I have to say that I believe that ghosts may exist, but I want some kind of evidence. Some kind of proof. These investigators -- and their paranormal investigation team -- work on the same premise. They attempt to "debunk" paranormal claims, but when they gather evidence that is hard to "debunk" or "dispute," they are left with evidence that may actually support life after death (i.e., ghost, paranormal activity). While Ghost Hunters works with a scientific leaning by utilizing technical equipment from EMF meters / K2 meters, digital thermometers, night vision cameras and thermal sensor equipment, etc., other paranormal programs utilize spirit mediums and the like. While I do not discount psychic mediums and sensitives, their evidence is hard to prove or "debunk." Nevertheless, programs like "Paranormal State" and "Paranormal Cops" (broadcast on A&E) have their place as well. They are certainly interesting. Psychic mediums like John Edward and Chip Coffee are quite interesting. In fact, I've been watching John Edward for many years. He's gotten a bit "mushy" as of late (even for WE) -- his original program on SyFy used to display his medium abilities more readily. In short, more readings. Writers and psychic researchers like Peter Cayce are also quite interesting. Peter Cayce utilizes Science, Philosophy and Religion to come up with explanations for the afterlife and reincarnation and Karma. Interesting material. In any case, the paranormal field is an interesting one. I'd really like to see more programs about legitimate psychics and paranormal investigators like Ghost Hunters, John Edward and Peter Cayce. I love Ghosthunters International. I think it's just as good as the original, with the same concept but more exotic locations. It's interesting to step outside our country to see paranormal activity in other parts of the world. I've been watching Ghosthunters since day one almost 5 years ago, and Ghosthunters International is a great spin-off to the original show! I just wish Donna would return!

During the show's early episodes, Brian, Andy and Donna from the original series had joined the cast. All three lent lively personalities and years of expertise to the show, and the episodes were great entertainment (although Donna's tendency to shriek gets tedious really fast). But mid-season, these three had left. The show needed to rely on the lead, Robb, and the "experienced" Barry. Robb is not a debunker but instead tends to view everything as being haunted. For instance, he can have an EVP that sounds like someone scraping their shoe on floorboards and he claims the place is haunted. He relies heavily on Barry, and Barry continually comes off as a phoney -- in every episode, something unobservable and unverifiable happens to him, like he claims to be touched or to see something behind a locked door. Barry runs towards what ends up being nothing, and he runs away from a lot of things too (Brian used to get teased for this!). Donna's replacement, Brandy, has a nasally voice that is not clear or inviting on TV. The quality of the investigations is disappointing, and I can't help feeling like GHI is a disservice to the original. The only reason I am purchasing the DVD (when it finally is released???) is for the earlier episodes that were fun.

About time!,
This review is from: Ghost Hunters: The Complete First Season (DVD)
It's about time this show was available on DVD. I love GHI. Great locations, the premier of the full spectrum camera. They've caught so many cool pics with that camera it makes me wonder why Jason and Grant don't use one. The only way it could be better is if they had put captions or subtitles on the discs. Can't wait for more GHI!

Ghost Hunters International,

A great series! I really enjoyed the new team and with guest appearances from TAPS members from back in the states. There are some great locations filmed in GHI that have lots of history to them and are very interesting to see. I highly recommend it for those who love Ghost Hunters. Can't wait for season 2!

Sence I started watching the show I cant seem to get enought of it. I was never the kind of person that can sit down and keep my mind on what im watching or the type to watch anything that had to do with ghost. This is the only show that I watch that has it. I aslo like how the team gets to the point, stay on one thing for a while and doesnt drag things out like "Ghost Lab". Boring. Thanks guys keep up the good work. Loke forward to the next seasons of all the Ghost Hunters.

Love Original GH, Hate GHI,
This review is from: Ghost Hunters: The Complete First Season (DVD)
I have been a fan of the original Ghost Hunters for years now and still enjoy plopping down on the sofa on Wednesday nights to watch the show.
I was thrilled when they announced they were going international, but as previously mentioned in another review, they picked the wrong people to send abroad. My husband and I often joke that they would find anything haunted including a speck of dust, which normally, Jay and Grant from the original GH series would recognize as a piece of dust or bug for what it is. The lead investigator(Rob)in GHI is very boring, doesn't bring the kind of fun and personality as the original GH's cast does. For people that are looking for a show that truly looks into paranormal activity, this spin off is not the place to look. The original Ghost Hunter's series is where you should be looking. Jay and Grant truly investigate in a scientific manner and only when they can't explain away evidence that they have tried to debunk, will they then declare a site to either have paranormal activity(notice they don't say it's haunted) or to be haunted if there is an overwhelming amount of evidence to suggest the location to be so. Rob, in the GHI series, is too overeager in proclaiming almost all the locations he visits as being haunted. To me that isn't much investigating and just more fodder to keep people watching the show, I don't think this spin off will last too long unless they do some major cast changes and bring in someone with a more objective standpoint.

GHI is no Ghosthunters,
By K P (Wala Wala, Wa United States) - See all my reviews

Ghosthunters International is a complete waste of time. The investigators rarely find anything compelling, yet insist that every place is haunted. "We had some amazing personal experiences" they say. Well, yeah, I'm afraid that doesn't translate to us as an audience.
The fact of the matter is that GHI is not Ghosthunters. Robb and his cohorts lack all the charm, wit, and skepticism of Jay, Grant, and the crew of Ghosthunters. Barry is the absolute worst - he is quick to identify every wind or noise as paranormal activity, then he almost injures his fellow investigators as he runs over them to get away from some proclaimed demonic activity. And if Barry refers to his "full spectrum camera" one more time like it is a Ghostbusters Proton pack, I think I might injure myself. Please - spend your money on ANY season of Ghosthunters, but not GHI.

breath of fresh air plus a history lesson,
This review is from: Ghost Hunters: The Complete First Season (DVD)
I love GHI partly because you learn some history about sites in other countries plus the cast has great camaraderie and professionalism. They don't do all that talking which drowns out possible sounds like the GH crew. There isn't all that drama that Jay and Grant create on GH. All members of GHI are treated with respect and have great enthusiasm which helps the viewer focus on the site instead of the drama between cast members.
They don't claim that every site is haunted, they just say that they can't say one way or another based on the one night at times. It sounds like most viewers want the drama involved in GH. I say no thank you. Give me the positive attitude and Barry's sexy accent anytime. Can't wait until the DVD is released!

This is what I have to say, and if you're a Ghost Hunters watcher -- you will understand: If you find Brian Harnois the most likeable, entertaining person, there is something seriously wrong with the show.
In my house, we LOVE watching the original Ghost Hunters with Jay and Grant. The investigators are entertaining, while also taking it seriously and having a scientific approach. Jay and Grant are awesome, Steve and Tango are hysterical together. And more importantly, they never easily mark anywhere as 'haunted'. I was really stoked when I heard about ghost hunters international(GHI). Being a traveler, I was excited to see if they'd visit any places I'd been, plus nearly everywhere else in the world has a longer history then here in the united states, so a much better chance of actually being haunted. So really, how could they go wrong? Well -- they did, and it was in their choice of investigators. I've heard this from a good number of people and seen it all over online, it's not just me who doesn't like them. They are HORRIBLE. Monotone, boring, and they jump on anything, like wind blowing, going "did you hear that?!!!!!" yea, it was the wind dude. The lead guy, Robb, is terrible, listening to him talk, he could put you to sleep. but not entirely, because you're too busy watching his non-stop eyebrows. In the current season(2) all anyone can do is stare at the girl, Brandy, with the terrible makeup(I'm not kidding, only wish I were). She's either trying to look like she has sunken eyes or like she has a black eye. They never find anything good and they are always declaring places haunted with the smallest noise or weird happening. With the real ghost hunters, Jay and Grant, they will try to debunk something first..these guys very rarely do that. So while they do go to super amazing places, those settings are ruined by the terrible cast. Now in season 2, I have finally broken up with GHI because I spent more time yelling at the tv or falling asleep then actually watching the show. Check out the original Ghost Hunters, you will not be disappointed. |
