5.0 out of 5 stars Terrifying!
This is the first horror book I read that really scared me. Very interesting and spooky! I was lucky enough to hear Ed and Lorraine speak at a high school a few years ago- they were great. If you never get to meet them (or even if you do) read this book, it's worth it!

Do the Warrens ever encounter a haunting..why is every story automatically a demonic possesion. Second Ed was one of 7 demonologists in the world..please tell me how he got this title? This book is good for a fun read but as far as truth goes forget about it. Bigfoot? Now Lorraine can connect with Bigfoot..can it get any funnier. This is why she is being sued by the...

5.0 out of 5 stars scary scary book!, January 1, 2003

I read this book over 15 years ago. I couldn't finish it. It scared me too much. I lived in a haunted house when I was young and it brought back too many scary memories. If the metaphyical is your cup of tea I recommend this book. I'm looking to buy it again so I can try to finish it this time........

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Sleep Alone at Night and Read This!, April 5, 2010

I havn't read one book by the Warrens yet that I don't enjoy! This book definantly had me spooked! Ed and Lorraine Warren are/were (Ed is with God) demonologists, so naturally everything paranormal is going to be a demonic infestation to them. I can see where they might get the impression about the demonic on the hauntings they talked about in this book, but they even included a way to make the big hairy man shaped creature, better known as bigfoot, a demonic force.
I would not read this one if I had to sleep alone at night! No matter what you believe this book will give you the creeps! I read these kind of books to get scared, and I'm pleased to say this one did the job. As I write this I keep looking behind me. Of course nothings there, but this just goes to show how creeped out I am!
Ed and Lorraine Warren are better known for their works with popular hauntings such as The Amityville Horror, The Haunted, and also for giving lectures at Universities all over the country on the paranormal. This book is about some of their most memorable cases.

This is why she is being sued by the victim's of one of their so called demonic possesions, it seems they pushed and coherced the victims to go along with the story they exagerrated. Most of the so called possessed were victim's of psych problems. I feel bad for the real victim's who were used by the WARREN'S.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unprofessional Authors Unprofessional Writing, November 2, 2008
This review is from: Ghost Hunters (Paperback)
The Authors do not use the correct vocabulary. Priests and Catholic Church officials would not call it "Demonic Infestation," they would use the term, "Diabolical Infestation." They also say that the Vatican officials in Rome gave permission for an exorcisim of a house in the USA. This is impossible. First, the Vatican official would be located in the Vatican City which is a country, not in Rome, so the authors do not know their geography. Second, there is no such thing as an exorcism of a house--the Catholic church calls it a blessing. If there is a Diabolical Infestation of the house, it is still called a blessing. An exorcism is only used on people. Third, the Vatican would not give such permission, since it is up to the local bishop for the diocese or archdiocese the house is located in to grant permission at the local level.

1.0 out of 5 stars A fine line: Fact or fiction?, June 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Ghost Hunters (Paperback)
A dark, stormy night, home alone and talk of demons in every corner waiting....for you. The greatest challenge facing the reader is to discern what aspects of this book are documented fact, what is blatant hype or exaggeration and, in some cases, outright lies.

Having participated in this line of work and study for several decades, I can attest that occurences as depicted in this book do happen from time to time. However, the material is presented in such a spectacular vein one can only question what the true, primary motivation is for writing on this subject in this manner. I suspect the answer is money.

If the text is to be presented, as it is, as fact then the occurences should be reported honestly and unemotionally. If the text is to be presented as fiction then poetic license and creativity is more than appropriate.

I am concerned with the authenticity and the obvious "marketing" approach of this book. I believe the reader, (purchaser), is being sold a bill of goods and that the subject deserves a higher level of respect than it receives. In fact, for the money, I'd recomend a Stephen King novel. At least King does'nt purport to be presenting fact in his writings.
