Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This guide is designed for locals, new residents, and travelers seeking the haunted history of the Crescent City and nearby locations. Detailed descriptions and historical background for more than 70 locations guide readers to sites of tragic events where they might encounter ghostly apparitions.

Sites and spirits in the Garden District and French Quarter include the ghosts of voodoo priestesses, victims of the yellow fever epidemics, several well-known French Quarter restaurants, and the famous "Mad Madame" LaLaurie mansion, thought to be the most haunted house in New Orleans. A section on City Park, the Faubourg Marigny, and nearby Chalmette, the site of the Battle of New Orleans, is also included. A chapter dedicated to day trips suggests the paranormal possibilities awaiting travelers destined for the famous River Road plantations and Baton Rouge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghosts on Tour~, April 13, 2009
We purchased this book to allow us to wander the streets of New Orleans as informed as we could be about the history of the City. We had been before, but a ghost tour always conflicted with our fantastic dining plans. This book allowed us to tour the city as my husband recited the history of the many "scary" sites that fill the Quarter. Great buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars If you know NOLA, you know these stories, April 17, 2008
By A. Ortega (Kentucky Derby, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book hosted no new ghost stories for the veteran of visiting New Orleans, even more so a lot of the locations are not even actually given. However the book does give a fresh twist on some of the stories and some of the graphics are fun.
