I'm a big fan of TAPS, and there are some great investigations in this group. Jason and Grant are my favorite ghost hunters because they approach ghost hunting from a more scientific point of view, trying to find real world explanations for the things that go bump in the night. If it's not the heater vents in the basement or a clock giving off a high EMF that is causing people to be creeped out, only then do they entertain the possibility that it may in fact be something paranormal. Although this group of episodes doesn't have some of their most compelling investigations, it is a great addition to my collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for diehard fans., March 29, 2010
This review is from: Ghost Hunters: Season Five, Part One (DVD)
I love this show, and have the entire series on DVD and was understandably excited for the 5th season to come out. However, I was pretty disappointed when I received this in the mail. For one, it is only 3 DVDs, as opposed to the past few half-seasons which are 4. Secondly, there is NO "PLAY ALL" option on the DVDs. Once you watch an episode, it goes back to the main menu. This is a major pain in the butt. It also seems production of the DVDs this time around was bare bones. On the main menu, you get the episodes, deleted scenes, and the option to have subtitles (admittedly, that's awesome, and it's about time). But there's none of the fun "extra investigations" from before, and the fact that they're no longer investigating peoples' homes is a little disappointing as well. In summary, if you're a diehard fan of the show, I recommend this set just to have it. If you're new to the show, try buying some of the earlier seasons instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars My Final Ghost Hunters purchase, March 27, 2010

Season Five, Part One is the fifth Ghost Hunters DVD I own. And unfortunately it's also the last.
For me, there are two major problems with Ghost Hunters 5, Pt 1 : first, the production format has become incredibly formulaic and dull, and second, unfortunately there's just not enough paranormal activity to keep me interested. The second problem is no one's fault - and let's face it, it's preferable that the show appears to be legit and doesn't resort to fabrications. But unfortunately the show has become stagnant. The formula of every show is identical and goes something like this: Chris Williams phones Jay and Grant to tell them about some amazing new case; cut to Jay and Grant sitting in the GH office with Chris going into more detail about the case; cut to Jay and Grant saying something like "OK let's get the team together and go check it out"; cut to shot of team loading the van; cut to dashboard shots of team traveling to allegedly haunted location with Jay asking Chris to provide some details of the history of the location; cut to Jay, Grant and Steve walking around with location owner showing them the 'hot spots' followed by Jay saying "OK, now what we'll do is get all the gear set up, go lights out and see what we can find.."; cut to set up of cameras; cut to in-van shot with Steve showing where all the cameras are located......"
Get the idea? I'm getting bored just thinking about it.
C'mon Jason and Grant - give the show some new life. Add in a guest psychic every now and then. Up the spook factor. Otherwise there will be many others like me who want to love your show, but can't because the content is getting way too dull and predictable.
