This review is from: Ghost Hunting: The Scientific and Metaphysical Approach (Paperback)
I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this book, a book combining both the "scientific" approach to ghost hunting and the metaphysical approach to ghost hunting.

The book begins with the scientific. I found the information interesting and informative. It went rather in depth about EMF meters, when there are lots of other types of equipment out there that are used for GH. Not sure why the specific focus on EMF. Photography was bare bones, infrared wasn't mentioned and other forms were almost just in passing. But there were lots of good tips or advice on photographing the paranormal, as well as using other equipment or GH in general.

The metaphysical portion of the book was a bit "out there" for my tastes in relation to ghost hunting. It went into topics such as developing your psychic "muscle", learning to read auras, animal totems, how to smudge, how to cleanse an area...things I would not normally use when GH (except for using my "sensitivies" when investigating).

What I really liked about the book was the fact that it gave credence to orbs, something hard to find in many GH books these days. The authors believe that many orbs are dust, dirt, rain, moisture, etc. but there are those orbs that aren't any of those. There are the orbs that I believe are either spirit oriented or at least paranormal in some way. I found the information on orbs very helpful and the book was worth the purchase just for that. They also included photos of various orbs that really were insects, various orbs that really were dust so that you learn the difference. I found those composite charts very helpful.

What I was disappointed in was photos were missing from this book, on several pages, yet the text was never edited when the photos were removed. The reader is left looking for the photos that are not there and that is frustrating. Not editing the text, besides removing photos that would have been very helpful to the reader, is just plain lazy. The photos in the book could have shown examples of mist, ectoplasm, apparitions, orbs, and so on but didn't. Why do these expert ghost hunters who write books never include those kinds of photos.
