It's About Time!!!!,

I'm not much of a music critic, so this might not be the type of review people would probably look for. But I am a HUGE fan of Jill Hennessy! I've been wanting one of her albums since I heard her songs on the Crossing Jordan soundtrack. This album does not disappoint.
Genre-wise I would say it sounds a bit country and folksy - and I usually can't stand country. She has such a clear, beautiful voice and the passion in her lyrics is evident in every song. One of my favorite songs is "Slow Down" because a song that could easily be sung with derision (with lyrics like "wealthy people looking thinner than the poor") is sung as a matter of fact. The music is just wonderful and definitely adds to the beauty of the lyrics rather than taking away from it or overwhelming it. This is the type of album that can be listened to in any mood. I can't wait for her next one!!

A real gem,
By Lis Itte (New York) - See all my reviews

This debut album from Jill Hennessy is a remarkable compilation of honest, intelligent poetry brought to life by her raw, smoky voice and brilliant instrumentation. Gutsy and riveting, her band features not only the traditional lead and rhythm guitars (utilized most magnificently), but also cello and accordion. The effect is breathtaking. She managed to gather a phenomenal group of musicians to contribute to this album, even getting the Dixie Chicks' Martie Maguire on fiddle for the song "Holding On." Those who appreciate harmony, acoustics, lyrics, and talent will find "Ghost In My Head" a real gem. What is clear on each and every track is that Jill is an artist who poured her heart and soul (and money) into producing an album that remains true to the music and her artistic intuition rather than pandering to big label marketing ploys. Artists of all mediums will appreciate the genuine love she and the other musicians poured into this CD. Gute Arbeit!

I remember hearing Jill sing '2000 miles' on Crossing Jordan YEARS ago, and have been waiting for her to drop an album since then! And this album doesn't disappoint. Her voice is simply amazing, and you can hear the passion in it. This album is something she's put her heart and soul into. The songs and lyrics are also fantastic. All written by Jill, you can tell that these songs really hold a special meaning to her, and are more than simply words.
I highly recommend this album for someone to buy. Especially now, when it seems that all of the popular music is all very similar, Jill's music is like a breath of fresh air. I got mine in the mail this morning, and have had it playing all day. It's fantastic.

Brilliantly written, wonderfully executed,
By MJ Chicago (Chicago) - See all my reviews

A remarkable album that shines with Ms. Hennessy's dynamic voice and the powerful, immensely talented band. The songs tell a story, real poetry, like the music of years gone by, and strike a poignant chord sure to resonate with listeners. Sometimes powerful and rockin', other times reflective and balladic, this album brings a breath of fresh air to the music scene, getting back to the core, music for music's sake. And for her courage in producing such an artist-driven work, I commend Ms. Hennessy.

Long Time Coming ...,

I have been waiting on the CD since listening to Jill perform on the early seasons of Crossing Jordan as well as the Crossing Jordan soundtrack.
I was surprised by how much I have been enjoying the music and the lyrics. I like the flow of the music and it tends to be on the "folk" side if you are hunting for a genre. My favorite cuts are Oh Mother, Save Me and Holding On. Love hearing Marco call out "4 small hands" as the intro to the song (smile). I had to purchase another CD as my brother took my original one home with him. Give yourself a treat and purchase the CD! Peace

A dream come true for Jill,

This is a real dream come true for someone who used to busk outside the subway for a living. Jill taught herself to play the guitar, and it's obvious if you've ever seen interviews where she plays and sings that she truly loves music. I've read how she has hoped to do an album for quite some time, and I'm thrilled for her (and for me!!!) that it has finally become a reality. Up until now I've only heard her sing covers of other songs, so I knew she had a wonderful, classic folk singer voice; I am especially impressed that she wrote all of the songs on this album herself, thus reaffirming the fact that she is indeed multi-talented. The music is folksy, with a touch of country and Celtic to spice it up, a perfect compliment to her voice; the lyrics are thought-provoking poetry that show the true depth of this talented woman. Congratulations, Jill.

This CD is a MUST! I got it in the mail last Thursday and I'm thinking, "I will have to buy a second copy just because I'm always going from the car to the house with it, and back to the car again!" I never leave home without it! Great job on this CD, Jill! Can't get enough. So, when are you going to make another?

what a nice surprise! I knew a bit about Jill Hennessy's musical background and picked this up out of curiosity. I was a fan of her acting, naturally, but am also a fan of singer-songwriters as well. I found this to be thoughtful, honest and well-performed. Very good musicianship by all. Jill can sing. I think anyone who appreciates forthright and honest writing will find this worthwhile and enjoyable. Jill Hennessy is a genuine writer, performer and musician and this is not offered up as a publicity stunt. She is a genuine music artist and I for one, will look forward to another recording? hint! hint! and if she ever would somehow appear near me in a performance? Sure I would go see her.

What a great surprise! Not that I didn't think Jill "could" do it, I just didn't realize she would be "so" good. Her voice and guitar are awesome; the music is very real and introspective. Jill has all kinds of talent, and I wish she could teach me! I'm really glad I bought "Ghost In My Head!!"

I first saw Jill On the Ellen Show and fell in love immediately! Couldn't wait to hear the CD for the first time. There is not one song that I don't love. I have bought the CD for my 27 year old daughter, (mother of a daughter) and she loves it,too! Haven't listened to the radio since! I would hope that Jill would do another CD. Sincerely, a huge fan from South Dakota--Monica
