Has Nancy Drew solved the world's energy crisis?  On a mission, sponsored by young, rich, and handsome Ralph Credo, Nancy teams up with eccentric scientist Roy Hinkley, to find an amazing high efficiency engine able to operate at an amazing 200 miles per gallon!  The experimental engine, mounted on a tank, was part of an experiment during the final days of World War II.  There's just one problem, the engine and the tank are haunted.  "Ghost In The Machinery" is the first in a series of three Nancy Drew adventures entitled "The High Miles Mystery."

5.0 out of 5 stars Crouching Shadows, Hidden Tank..., May 13, 2011

"Ghost in the Machinery" is installment #9 in the graphic novel series featuring Nancy Drew, girl detective. This series updates the popular novels by Carolyn Keene, reimagining teenager Nancy Drew, best friends Bess and George, and boyfriend Ned into 21st Century River Heights.

As the story opens, Nancy has talked Bess and George into an overnight camping trip that is really about checking out rumors of strange lights in the woods. When the lights actually appear, Nancy and her friends investigate. The trail leads to an abandoned World War II munitions factory, rigged for demolition the next day. It turns out the old factory isn't quite empty. A team of mysterious men are looking for a missing super tank, guarded by a ghost left over from the war, and surrounded by more than a few traps for three teenage girls.

"Ghost in the Machine" is an exciting little story with lots of mysteries. Readers should be warned that this novel is the first of a three part story, continuing in "The Disoriented Express" and concluding in "Monkey Wrench Blues." All three are very highly recommended to the latest generation of Nancy Drew fans.
