This is really a great little CD that really hilights what Vic Mizzy does best.

As an added bonus, there are 40 pages of liner full color notes which include IN-DEPTH interviews with both Knotts and Mizzy ans well as many full color behind the scenes pics and rare original poster art. I never knew that the uncredited Andy Griffith had contributed some bits to the script - the "Atta Boy, Luther" running gag was his idea!!

Well worth the price - because this is a Limited Edition release, don't be chicken and get yours now before they sell out!!

If you've seen the film, you'll want the soundtrack. Mizzy brings his usual quirky and fun style to this Don Knotts classic film. Combining Fuzz guitar picking, with some jazzy brass sound and a killer creepy-organ solo the soundtrack to "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" will become a Halloween staple in your household.

Composer Vic Mizzy is known as the composer of "The Addams Family" and "Green Acres" themes. Mizzy also composed the ultra-eerie William Castle horror film "The Night Walker". The score for "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" combines both the comic element found in his sitcom themes with the spooky atmosphere created for Castle's film and the result is a fun, percussion heavy soundtrack.

To top it off, the liner notes give background details on the creation of the film, brief biographical info on the cast and crew of the film as well as on Mizzy. Chock full of fun facts about the score, the cast and the film itself I found the liner notes worth the price of purchase alone!! This is just the kind of useless info clogging up my brain space that I can't get enough of.

I remember watching "The Ghost of Mr. Chicken" when it was aired sporadically during my childhood. I'll admit I don't look at it with the same eyes as a 34 year old, but it brings back good memories. I always liked the music and was happy to see it on this CD. The price for a new CD was a bit steep, but I purchased it anyway. People who have not see the movie a few times may not appreciate CD. I can picture in my mind certain scenes as they play. It may even sound spooky to someone not familiar with the movie, but I don't think would not recommend it. My wife who never really saw the movie, just does not get why I was looking forward to listening to it! 5 STARS just for something like this making it to CD!

Yeah, there's just something about The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, beside comedy maestro Don Knotts, that screams watch me again...and again! I think it's a subliminal suggestion contained within the score...or, maybe, it's just "The Score"! Talk about top notch composition...I'm so glad to be the owner of this wonderful soundscape, I'll be enjoying it for years to come...don't think to long on it if your looking. Buy it!

VIC MIZZY did many musical scores for movies and TV including but not limited to Green Acres, The Addams Family and more. The Addams Family was some of Vic Mizzy's best work but the sound track attempting to revive the best Vic Mizzy Addams Family TV series themes failed miserably and utterly. SO NOT THE CASE HERE, This Vic Mizzy: Ghost & Mr. Chicken Soundtrack is totally faithful to the 1960's quirky sound that real fans remember by heart. This soundtrack is so true to the original that I can picture the totally wack scenes that go with each piece of music heard on this CD. The possessed Organ music alone makes this Ghost & Mr Chicken soundtrack a total must have. I was able to score a copy of this Ghost & Mr. Chicken CD for a mere $19.00. I doubt you will be able to find this Ghost & Mr Chicken CD for $19.00 much longer. The only thing you need to add to this soundtrack to make it complete is a good loud unexpected, "That'- A Boy Luther!" So don't just sit there heed the psychic vibrations and get your copy of Ghost & Mr. Chicken it was one of the best buys I made on Amazon.com. That creepy organ music would make for a great haunted house background. I was a kid when this movie was first released and as a black guy the thing I most remembered was the restaurant scene that included black folk eating in the same restaurant as white folk and not portrayed as pimps or fools just normal diners. That took guts to include just plain normal black folk in a film back then. I ALWAYS LOVED DON KNOTTS FOR BEING A MAN OF CONSCIENCE! In his acting Don Knott's played a Chicken to perfection in this and other movies but in reality Don Knotts was in his day one of the strongest and best men around. Don Knotts was a great man as well as a great comedic force in my estimation. Don Knotts lives on in the Ghost and Mr. Chicken and his other fine work.
