Mrs. Jeffries Never Gets Spooked!,
By
This review is from: The Ghost and Mrs. Jeffries (Victorian Mystery) (Paperback)
The 3rd book in the series. A housekeeper, Mrs. Jeffries, and her staff assist Inspector Witherspoon solve another baffling case for Scotland Yard.At a seance, Mrs. Hodges was taken aback by the medium's dire prediction, but quickly dismissed it as nonsense. That night, Mrs. Hodges was murdered. Inspector Witherspoon is on the case, but unfortunately he doesn't have a crystal ball to tell him whodunit. He does have his housekeeper Mrs. Jeffries and the rest of his staff to help him solve this case. However, Mrs. Jeffries is so good, even he cannot figure out that they are helping him! Another good installment in the series. Highly recommended even if you have never read any of the others. Light, easy read. The first book in this series is "The Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries". Enjoy!

Very Good,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ghost and Mrs. Jeffries: Emily Brightwell (Paperback)
This is the best Victorian/English mystery so far. The best part about is the way the household finds and gives info to the inspector. This book has everything a good mystery needs!!!! Great main characters, a cop called Nivens who hates the inspector, and a plot that will keep you guessing. Move over Mrs. Seeton, here comes Mrs. Jefferies. This book is like Lillian Brauns the Cat who... books. Reccomend all these books and the cat who... books. This is a very enjoyable read.

A Victorian Mystery Series that is in the cozy genre.,

The Mrs. Jeffries series is a Victorian series, but the books are more in the cozy genre. I find these books quite delightful so far. As long as they're read with the correct genre in mind, you will find them that way too. There is not much Victorian folklore in the books, and not much description of what life was like in England in the 1830's, but the characters are quite wonderful and quite unique. I found the mystery in this particular book a bit simplistic, so that is why a 3 instead of a 4, but I am really enjoying reading the series. In this book Mrs. Jeffries and her crew are drawn into the world of mediums and channeling with people from the other side. Anyway Mrs. J and her intrepid band of amateur sleuths manage to crack the case just in time.

If you want a murder mystery of unique standard and humanity (the wife loves them; so cuppa and suss are words that didn't come into use until the 20th century you will still enjoy this late 19th century murder mystery and their companions featuring a group of people who become a family in kind to do the work of justice).

Mrs. Jeffries Never Gets Spooked!,

This review is from: The Ghost and Mrs. Jeffries (Mass Market Paperback)
In the 3rd book Mrs. Jeffries Victorian Mystery series, Mrs. Jeffries, a housekeeper and her staff assists Inspector Witherspoon in solving another baffling case for Scotland Yard...even though he remains clueless about receiving their help.
At a séance, Mrs. Hodges was taken aback by the medium's dire prediction, but quickly dismissed it as nonsense. That night, Mrs. Hodges was murdered. Inspector Witherspoon is on the case, but unfortunately he doesn't have a crystal ball to tell him whodunit. What he does have is his housekeeper, Mrs. Jeffries, and the rest of his staff to help him solve this case, and they are able to ask questions and follow suspects that are almost impossible for the police to accomplish. I have enjoyed each of the books in this series and this one did not disappoint! These are light, quick reads, and the thing that I enjoy the most about this series is the great relationships between all of the members of the staff at Upper Edmonton Gardens. They work closely together to help their beloved Inspector, and I have enjoyed watching their friendships grow and develop with each new book. The first book in this series is "The Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries". Enjoy!
