Book Description

Behind the glitz and the glamour of the beauty queen mother lies a web of secrets. CeeCee is a child desperate for a touch of approval, the love of her mother. Her reality is her mom's retreating back, abandoning CeeCee in front of a burning car.

But somewhere amid the chaos and despair, CeeCee holds onto something precious, the only thing that drives her on - hope.

Ghost No More is a stand alone memoir of tragedy, love, and strength that proves joy can be found beyond abuse.

"Hauntingly beautiful. Honestly and unflinchingly written, Ghost No More held me in its grasp as I turned from shock at the cruelty of some people to awe at the strength of one little girl to overcome. It is more than the story of an abused child; it's a story about the capacity of the human spirit to survive and thrive. It will leave you feeling empowered in your own life journey." -- Leslie G Nelson, author of Everything I Needed to Know About Parenting I Learned in Prison: A Correctional Officer's Tale

From the Author

This is my journey back from fear and hopelessness, and how I went from feeling like a ghost, to realizing my voice and value. I own it and share it because it has no power over me anymore.I wrote Ghost No More because once I was swallowed by pain, confusion, and fear, and I don't want anyone in that place to stand alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written February 20, 2014

I started reading this at night in bed and finally put it down at 4:30 am. Not because I was done reading, but because I needed to sleep! And finished the book later in the day. It's not often I stay up all night reading a book, but when I do, it's because it's really good and well written! This is a book about a girl who survives a horribly abusive childhood. But she doesn't just survive, she ends up finding healing, love, and redemption. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your story, CeeCee. I am in awe that such beauty can come out of incredible pain.

As hard as it was to learn of CeeCee's painful childhood, it was impossible to stop reading because it was so well written. Read this on my phone from start to finish unable to put it down.
I'd definitely love to read more writings from this author.

This memoir was so heartbreaking but beautifully written, and the positivity that CeeCee carried throughout all of her experiences was amazing. The ending is great :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A worthwhile read - no matter what your past. February 19, 2014

I'm not usually a memoir reader, but couldn't put this down. Told in an engaging style, it's a story that propels the reader as well as a first-rate novel. But with one big difference. It's true. The honest and unflinching recounting coupled with very good storytelling kept me turning pages. The tale is sometimes dark and heart-rending, but the glimmers of light sprinkled through it bust wide open at the end. I'm glad I read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beauty from ashes February 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this memoir. A girl with a heart-wrenching, harrowing life grows to become a woman who understands love. It is a moving narrative that made me review my own life and my own understanding of love, most especially in how I loved myself and my family. Thank you, Cee Cee James, for gifting me with your life's story so that I may appreciate how true inner-beauty comes from the ashes of one's life. Beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars a story of hope and finding true acceptance for all February 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
CeeCee memoir is unforgettable. You wont forget this memoir of a child who struggled with so much pain and negligence. We all deserve unconditional love and Mrs. James points to the real source of love after finding it one day as an adult. A love we can all find. Bravo Mrs. James for being so brave and sharing your story. We all can be encouraged by it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Story of Strength and Survival March 5, 2014
By Mothie
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
"Ghost No More" is an amazing story of strength and survival. The memoir is a brutal, gut-wrenching, heartbreaking read (as it should be), the sort of thing I would never read if it was fiction.

The author shows remarkable courage in sharing her story, and the inspiration promised in the title did not disappoint. It’s comforting to know it’s possible to stay open and let love in after the kind of horrors she endured. The fact that she not only survived, but also thrived, shows what a remarkable person she truly is.

More About the Author

Hi There! Just want to send out a big thank you to all of my readers!

I wrote the Ghost No More Series because I know what it feels like not to have hope. I want to connect, validate and encourage people who've overcome or are trying to overcome abuse in their life.

I love to write, paint with watercolors, and eat chocolate. Not necessarily all at the same time. I love to do pranks too, usually just on my poor husband who luckily puts up with me and lets me think I'm clever. One of my favorite pranks was sewing his work t-shirt neck-hole shut on April Fool's (I made him lasagna that night to make up for it.)

He does a few on me- his last one was hiding an old helium birthday balloon under the covers at night. I had just finished a spooky story, and as the last one awake, I checked the doors and turned off the lights. As I climbed into bed this apparition rose out of the covers, and I screamed....until I heard him laugh.

I still owe him for that one..... ;)

Again, thank you, and have a great day!
