4.0 out of 5 stars VENGEANCE RIDES FREE!
This game is a must buy if you are an old fan of ol' Flamehead. Plays similarly to God of War. THe riding sequences are fun and intense and there are plenty of old villians from the series that will leave you with a sense of nostalgia.
MUCH better than I was expecting.

3.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable...
First of all, let me tell you I love comic books(I'm more of DC fan, though)! This game is okay. It can get extremely repetitive and that is the most major flaw of this game. Another flaw would be the difficulty. It's waaay too easy! I have beaten this game twice already (and I did it in one weekend)! The graphics are okay and the voice acting is pretty cheesy. The best...

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick action Game, September 14, 2007

My 7 year old son loves this game. He saw the movie and thinks the game's special effects are great.
Fast moving action and lots of fighting.
Please make sure that your your child does not play this game for longer than 1 hour per day. The fast moving pace and fighting can become very addictive.

Another flaw would be the difficulty. It's waaay too easy! I have beaten this game twice already (and I did it in one weekend)! The graphics are okay and the voice acting is pretty cheesy. The best thing about the game are the extras. You have a bunch of comic books in the game and you have a lot of sweet costumes (and characters) to play as. Sadly, there really is no need to play with these costumes or characters because the story mode is pretty pointless. The final negative thing is there is no level select!!!! It drives me crazy how a game that is not open-world (oh by the way, this game should've been open world.. think about it) cannot have a level select. There is no excuse. Other than the things I mentioned, this game is okay. Acceptable, as the title says.

5.0 out of 5 stars the Spirit of vengence rides again !!, February 22, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ghost Rider (Video Game)
I loved the ghost rider film. it was well cast and the special effects were fantastic...and it had a well written story.. action packed fun! the first marvel film of the year and its raising hell..(this film is wayy better than daredevil)

fast forward to the ghost rider the game based on the movie..all i can say is..awesome! first, its a original story written by the series writers so you are in for a treat... second the graphics are quality playstation 2 fare..one thing though..why didnt they also release this for the playstation 3 and xbox 360? the action is a intense..a high quality "button masher" and the levels where you drive the hell cycle are incredible..

for you newbies out there, the ghost riders story is basically put , you are hell's bounty hunter out to defeat the demons loose in our world..while fighting to save your beloved roxanne(johnnys long time love) but once you make the pact with the devil your soul is his..and you have to become the spirit of vengence at night dishing out justice...

the game plays like god of war(only without those annoying mini puzzles) if you ever played g.o.w ..you know how to play Ghost rider..so it will feel natural. i dont know why some people are ripping on this game sure they used the GOW engine it makes perfect sense, but its done in the mighty marvel style..and its very entertaining...oh, and the rider looks awesome..the flames and details are done really well.. and the rider has thar same demonic voice.. if you liked the movie..grab this game..i had to go to 3 stores before i finally found a copy...

Ghost rider, has some insane attack moves as well as all his famous weapons from the comics..including the hellfire shotgun(johnny blaze's weapon of choice if you read the comics..you know what im talking about) ..and the famoue CHAINS(love these) add to that you also have the rider's famous penance stare. if you dont know what that is..the penance stare is when ghost rider captures you then looks you dead center in your eyes and enflicts on you all the pain and suffering you have caused people in your life..and you usually go insane after that..but in the game it is also a incredible super combo move.. which is a nice touch...

this game is a great stress reliever after work thats for sure..(i get a kick out of the move where ghost rider yells "come here!" and pulls the demon to him with his chain and does a incredible finishing move)

also you get to unlock lots of hidden goodies such as the comics, making of, and a few surprises..

the movie, is a hit( cant wait for ghost rider 2) the game is top notch, dont listen to those negative reviewers check this out for yourself.. and burn some rubber and kick some demon butt with the spirit of vengence... its a wild ride...

side note, ghost rider was one of marvel's b list characters until the smash hit 1990s series put him back on the map. and he now has a movie.. now marvel is working on a live action Moon Knight television series..and someday hopefully a movie and a stellar game. its a great time to be a marvel fan.. nuff said.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Superhero Game, April 2, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ghost Rider (Video Game)
This is a good superhero game. But you it steals some things from God of War. Like the combos and stuff. When your on foot it can get boring after a little while but it still is fun. The best part of the game is the motorcycle levels. Its fast pace and its pure awesome!!!! You can unlock lots of stuff! The down side about the game is its tooo short!!!! But its still a good game to rent.

I had bought the game because I am a lifetime Ghost Rider fan, Having read the books since they started in the seventies. Previews from hardcore gamers had left me hoping it was not a dud. I have had a blast. all kinds of moves to upgrade to and you get to ride the hellcycle. My son and I have really enjoyed it so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Game Dont Let The Bad Critic Reviews Fool You, May 22, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ghost Rider (Video Game)
If You Are Not Too Addicted To PS3/Xbox 360 Graphics This Is Deffinately One Game Any Marvel Or Ghost Rider Fan Should Have. No It Is Not Open World And The Path That You Go Is Finite But Everyone Needs To Do This For Themselves Once Or Maybe Even Twice Since You Can Be Punisher, Ghost Rider 2099 Or Vengeance Also.

All The Upgrades And Different Enemies Not To Mention The Out Of This World Bike Riding Is More Than Enough To Satisfy Any Rider Of The Night.

BTW I Wanted To Give This Game 4.5 Stars But Amazon Doesn't Seem To Realize It Is Absolutely Neccissary At This Point... So With That Said Here Are The Good And Bad

Pros
--Gameplay - Keeps You Engaged And Boss Fights Are Not Too Complicated
--Bike Riding - Some Critics Did Not Give It A Thumbs Up But Controls And Manuverability is Simple And If You Want To Expierience Ghost Rider Gameplay To The Fullest It Is A Must.
--Replay Value - Play As Blade Ghost Rider 2099 And Vengeance All With Their Unique Upgrades And Mechanics

Cons
--Video Game Creaters And Producers Need To STOP LIMITING The Options... Where Is The Open World Ghost Rider Game... It Should Be An Absolute Shoe In. Ghost Rider Can Climb Buildings With His Bike (As Shown In Comics And Animated Series) Swing With His Chain And Ride The Streets With An Ember Trail Among The Ruins. THE WORLD WOULDN'T END If We Had These Options There Will Always Be A Place To Advance For The Next Video Game From New Ideas, Game Plot, New Characters, Costumes And Other Content

The game itself was fine, I guess, but the story line, if you wanna consider it having one, sucked. Not a whole lot to talk about as far as gameplay. I hate to even try to compare it, but its like a super watered down version of God Of War 1 minus a story line or plot. The controls were kinda similar i guess. Anyway, if you're just looking for fun Marvel game, this is "OK."

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun game, March 14, 2010

This game is both very addictive & monotunous as others have said.

Based on the God of War Demo disc & got, I personally like this a lot better.

The unlockable charactors are Blade, Ghost Rider 2099, Classic Ghost Rider, & Vengeance.

Blade is the only one that actually changes the game play itself. He can't use a lot of the games cooler powers but he can regen. by "bloodsucking" the enemies. I find his lack of range still makes him much harder to use.

I wonder if those who said it was too easy tried it on Ultimate mode? You unlock this & all but classic Ghost Rider by solving any difficulty level. I find the difficulty settings provide a good balance for button mashing novice fun & more "strategic" game play.

1st time I solved it took me about 5 hours (not using all the powers). After learning the system better it does take about 3 hours.

3.0 out of 5 stars Repetitive and monotonous gameplay, but fun as h*ll (no pun intended), February 10, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ghost Rider (Video Game)
The movie was...passable.
The book was pretty good.
How about the game?

Well, let's start by saying this game is extremely repetitive. So repetitive that out of the, like, fifty levels, there are only two that you could play and it would sum up the whole game.

Put differently, the gameplay follows a pattern- beat 'em up level, hellcycle racing level, beat 'em up level, hellcycle racing level...over and over again.

Not only does the gameplay follow a pattern, so does the story! Go to a place. Find a locked door that can only be opened by "earth magic". Race to another place. Find earth soul. Race back to the other place. Unlock the door. Beat a boss. Go to a place. Find a locked door that can only be opened by "water magic". Race to another place. Find water soul. Race back to the other place...... Over and over.

So, what keep you going? The fact that it's so fun it's ADDICTING (like another user said, this could present a problem for younger players).

Overall, this game is extremely monotonous, but it'll give you something to do for a day or two.
