5.0 out of 5 stars "Charmingly off-kilter." Check out the Tiny Desk Concert and interview on NPR.
Quiet, lovely music from Sean Lennon and his stunningly beautiful girlfriend, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, who just happens to be a fashion model but also, like Lennon, a very talented singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. 3.0 out of 5 stars not john and yoko
Not John and Yoko but Sean and his girl friend.Production and instrumentation is good on this disc.If there was a obstacle with this record it would be that the song writing is not strong. In addition, the harmony structure suffers fron over exposure on almost every track like a run on sentence. If your looking for his father or the quality of his great solo album then think...

Quiet, lovely music from Sean Lennon and his stunningly beautiful girlfriend, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, who just happens to be a fashion model but also, like Lennon, a very talented singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. This isn't folk, and it's not rock; it is what it is: an album of clever, imitimate songs on which they play sympathetically and harmonize perfectly. Their themes are so odd and fantastic and the songs are so interesting and intricate that they demand repeated listening.

Alas, the CD's been out for over a month, yet this is only the fifth Amazon review. Because the album and the duo are so understated and because there's so much demand for loud, in-your-face music, they are likely to remain in a small niche (where they seem perfectly happy to stay). As Kemp Muhl aptly describes the music in Rolling Stone magazine, it's "charmingly off-kilter." I enjoy it very much.

On the NPR website, you can watch the duo perform "Jardin du Luxembourg," "Schrödinger's Cat," "Dark Matter, White Noise," and "The World Was Made For Men" in an 18-minute Tiny Desk Concert. The same website also has a video of their performance of "Lavender Road" from an hour-long WNYC interview, together with audio of "Rainbows in Gasoline," "Richard Brown," and other songs.

The interview, presented in its entirety, reveals Lennon to be a sensitive and insightful person. It's particularly touching to hear him speak about the loss of his father, the therapeutic role music played in his childhood, and his natural evolution into a musician. In addition, the MySpace page for Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger has numerous videos, both musical and personal.

I saw them in New York in a small club, and they are great together. I love their harmonies and the quirky songs on the album. I am looking forward to seeing them in Seattle the end of Jan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this album!, November 29, 2010

I had the pleasure of seeing Sean and Charlotte perform in Woodstock this summer. I was familiar with a few of their songs from Youtube, and when they said they would be releasing an album in the fall, I was excited. The album lived up to my expectations. The songs are filled with clever wordplay and beautiful harmonies. Even if you purchased the single versions of "Rainbows in Gasoline" and "The World Was Made For Men" previously (like I did), don't worry. The album versions are different, so you're still getting your money's worth. :-)

This is a great album to chill out to and forget the world for a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laid back and beautiful, November 14, 2010

I love this album, I love the lyrics and Sean & Charlotte's voices together. I do have to say that they sound better live but I still adore this album, I'm so glad it finally came out! Charlotte plays so many different instruments and during a show she's pretty much like this beautiful octopus playing different things at once. I've seen them twice here in California and can't wait to see them again soon. So if you appreciate different and original buy this, if you like stuff that sounds like everything else out there then this is not for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghostt, February 10, 2011

Surprising me and relatively growing on me everytime I listen since I've purchased.. the harmonies are at once modern and melodic. Opens the opaque wall from time to time in refreshing optimism. Instrumentation beautiful as a thorny forest. Very generous to behold; both extremely endowed artists & would say as a listener I appreciate the sound in my day. High notes impossible--as in, ENCHANTING? GREAT!!

Sean has become a great musical force, exc guitarist, and has a crack band with the quite talented Charlotte on keys/vox and majestic CJ on trumpet/horn!
Kinda like mellow psyche-French cabaret a la Syd! Great live too! John would be proud!!!

Today's music for the most part is like listening to a lot of someone else done by someone else. In Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, you hear the influence of John Lennon and Lennon intonations. A smidgen of some the greats being digested by Sean Lennon but coming out uniquely Sean. Sean's combining the old with the new, with haunting delicate harmonics, lyrics of substance, are reflective not preachy. He demonstrates an awareness of his generation's future possibilities, but his words still dance more like poetry. His compositions are complex and skillful. "Robot Boy" is reflective almost innocent, but sophisticated and experienced in every other aspect. His lyrics are visual, his melodies are a melding of past centuries up into the 21st. " The World Was Made For Men", is just verging on sheer genius. Sean has all the ingredients of the making of one the greatest musicians of the 21th century. He harbors his parents conscience and artistic skills, but shines above both. Lacking the anarchy, he harkens a clairvoyant's lament with an added touch of romanticism making Sean his own man artistically.

This review is from: Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger: Acoustic Sessions (Vinyl)
This collection of songs requires multiple listens to truely appreciate it. The songs are all pretty mellow, mid-tempo, and filled with beautiful harmonies. The lyrics are wonderful. The melodies are complex and yet instantly catchy. The music is so original; it doesn't sound like anything else out there. I just love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sean Lennon is back witha surprise, February 11, 2011
This review is from: Acoustic Sessions (MP3 Download)
So Sean Lennon is back with this acoustic CD in a duet effort. I have to give praise to Sean Lennon, he has a wonderful voice, just like his father. Friendly Fire was one of my favorite albums of 2010 (Having not discovered it till then) but since I discovered it, I have been anticipating very greatly, new material from Sean Lennon. GOASTT has a very soft unique sound. The harmonies work very well and it is classic Sean with his voice being awesome like always.

Should this band continue I would see them putting out a lot more good material. It would be phenomenal if GOASTT puts out an album that is recorded with a full band, like Friendly Fire was. Even if that doesn't happen, it is still good to see and hear Sean still making music. I recommend this album to anyone who has heard good things about it or is curious to listening to it, and if not, you can never go wrong with Sean's solo material.
