About the Author

Kristy Tate is the mother of six children and the author of two published novels. Her second novel placed fifth in an international writing contest and her fourth novel was a semi-finalist in the Amazon Novel Breakthrough contest. I really enjoyed reading this book. It has characters I could cheer for and I really wanted their relationships to work out. This is definitly a feel good book and well worth the read.

Kristy Tate is a serious author who writes about characters who struggle with deep issues concerning love, death and marriage. In addition, Tate's smart enough, and funny enough, to throw in a ghost, or two, to even out the tense atmosphere and raise the tone of the book to one of hilarity. I loved Kristy's ghost, and for the first part of the book she was my favorite character. Around the middle of the novel things started to happen with the main character inasmuch as she was able to learn about herself and get a grip on who she was and what she wanted in life. I grew to love her, and I grew to appreciate her interactions with her husband and others.
I'd definitely recommend this book to romance readers!

Laine is dealing with a lot of loss right now - her grandfather has died and she's separated from her husband. When her grandfather's body disappears and she's seeing the ghost of her grandmother, Laine knows it's time to reveal the long buried secrets. These secrets take Laine to Rose Arbor, the town in which her grandfather was born and raised...

I was delighted by `A Ghost of a Second Chance', the characters and the beautiful setting of Rose Arbor in Washington State made the story come to life. I wasn't too big of a fan of Laine's in the beginning, but she grew on me. I do understand in all relationships there are secrets, stubbornness and misunderstandings. I enjoyed the uncovering of Laine's family secrets and how it helped her to reflect on people and situations in her present life. Sometimes we don't know what we had or what we truly wanted until we lose it. Ms. Tate has written a great romance, mystery, and ghost story rolled into one and has proven there is always the possibility of a second chance.

This book was enjoyable & entertaining. The author throws in the ghost theme but it isn't a scary kind of read. She obviously has a great sense of humor which shows in her writing. Her characters frequently left me chuckling. This was a fun read although I admit I liked Stealing Mercy more.

Do you like a good ghost story? Or, how about a satisfying romance? If so, A Ghost of a Second Chance is for you. Tate has created a cast of interesting characters and plunked them down in a quirky set of circumstances. Set in the state of Washington, the book opens with protagonist, Laine, preparing for the funeral of her beloved grandfather, Sid. Laine, a wealthy young woman with very little interest in the family business, has recently separated from her husband, Ian, whom she suspects is having an affair with a co-worker.

Enter the ghost. Madeleine was Sid's first wife who died as a young woman. Madeleine, who appears only to her granddaughter, Laine, has come to escort Sid from the mortal world to the great beyond. However, there's a teensy, little problem. Sid's body has gone missing. The adventure begins.

As Madeleine's story unfolds, Laine sees the reflection in her own life. She still loves Ian. She still longs to have children. It's only when she moves to the small community of Rose Arbor that her life begins to make sense.

As a life-long resident of Washington State, I appreciated the setting, especially the interweaving of Chinook winds throughout the story. Tate even managed to include a couple of scenes set in my part of Washington, the dry side, east of the Cascade Mountains.

After my initial confusion sorting out the characters, I enjoyed this book. It's a satisfying read with dashes of humor and an engaging heroine. A Ghost of a Second Chance will take you on a journey; one with a number of unexpected twists and turns. But when you arrive at your destination, you'll be glad you went along for the ride.
