5.0 out of 5 stars A Skeptic's Take on the Pursuit of Ghosts, July 28, 2011
This review is from: Ghost Seeker Field Guide Vol 1:The Ultimate Ghost Hunters Guide On How To Ghost Hunt For Newbies In This Field, Ghost Hunting Books That Teach You How ... Ghost Hunts (How To Ghost Hunt Field Guide) (Kindle Edition)
OK, right up front, here's "where I'm coming from": When it comes to ghosts, I'm a skeptic. Well, maybe not a total skeptic - I'm not adamant that ghosts don't exist. I'm just not convinced that ghosts are necessarily the spirits of the deceased.

My own belief system is that a lot is going on "behind the scenes" that we don't see or understand, though. Given that, I tend to believe ghosts could just as easily be the spirits of the "dark side" posing as spirits of the dead - imposters, if you will.

Whatever ghosts are, I grant that they may very well exist. And if so, then I can certainly understand that some will enjoy the challenge of hunting for them and trying to learn from and about them.

If you're among those intrigued by ghost hunting, then this is about as practical a guide for that endeavor as you're likely to find. Here, you'll find advice on obtaining permission from the owner of any premises where you plan to search; on what to have along (a digital voice recorder and video cam are musts); what not to do, say, or wear; what to ask a ghost if you sense or encounter one; and how best to capture EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena).

Though I may be a skeptic about ghosts, I'm nonetheless fascinated by the paranormal - and I also enjoy constantly expanding my knowledge horizons. So I found that this book opened some windows for me in understanding the art of ghost hunting. If I were a ghost hunter, this one would be in my back pocket. And if you are one, it should be in yours!

I bought this book purely as a curiosity item and found myself pleasantly impressed. I've always had an interest in the paranormal, but this book does a great job of showing practical ways to ghost hunt. I'll have to recruit my brother some Saturday night to try this stuff out :D. Great book!

I've always been a believer in ghosts, and try to read as much as I can about the topic. Ghost Hunts (How To Ghost Hunt Field Guide) Was just what I needed. This book will show you most everything you need to start a ghost hunt today. The book jumps right into things and isn't filled with fluff or boilerplate stuff. It's really easy to understand, you don't need to be an engineer to grasp the information. A great book for the aspiring paranormal investigator. I really enjoyed reading this book and once you get your copy I'm sure that you'll agree too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is someone living in my home?, July 23, 2011
This review is from: Ghost Seeker Field Guide Vol 1:The Ultimate Ghost Hunters Guide On How To Ghost Hunt For Newbies In This Field, Ghost Hunting Books That Teach You How ... Ghost Hunts (How To Ghost Hunt Field Guide) (Kindle Edition)
Since moving into our new home 8 years ago, we have always felt a presense in the home. The home is 150+ years old and history says it is built in the area where the Lenape indians had settled.

We have had instances where we would walk through the hall and suddenly feel extreme cold pass through our bodies, and other instances where appliances and lights would turn on for no reason.

My husband has always chalked it up to coincidence, but I always felt there was something more and decided to look into how to get started in ghost hunting.

I purchased the book "Ghost Seeker" with the hope of getting more insight to confirm my feelings and I wasn't disapointed. This is a very simple to follow, yet very thorough guide on the necessary steps to take to insure a safe and sucessfull ghost hunt. I was also very happy to find out that the equiptment needed was well within anyones price range.

Author Frank Potterstone gives very sound advice on all aspects of ghost hunting, as he also is a sucessfull ghost hunter. I highly recommend

this book to anyone looking to find out if they are sharing their home with someone from the past.

I hope to report back with any findings soon.
