Beer fuelled despair rock at its best,

When I bought this cd I did not expect it to top any other of their releases such as their previous full length A guided tour of Chicago. I was very very wrong. This album still contains the raw yet melodic intensity that I like them for. A few of the songs are a little softer than before but they still rock

Lawrence Arms seriously rock. Imagine the Broadways with a little more maturity and you've got a pretty good idea of Lawrence Arms. "Chicago is Burning" and "The Old-Timer s 2x4" are really memorable and full of energy and emotion. If you're a fan of the Broadways, it's a must buy. If you're a punk/emo fan, it comes highly recommended.

Lawrence Arms' Masterpiece Album,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ghost Stories (Audio CD)
Brilliant album, truly.
The Lawrence Arms have hands down the most respectable lyrics in any punk band I've ever heard. They are intelligent and lo-fi in the truest sense. Ghost Stories is raw, and full of poetic beauty. Fans of true punk and/or simple, emotional music should love this. More importantly, even those who hate punk should be able to at least respect this band for their intelligence. Fans of Leftover Crack need not listen.

Better than the last,

The mastering on this disc is a lot better than "Guided tour". They have a more in-your-face sound on this disc and more mature sound then their last release. If you like the broadways, you may like this disc. Check out the Honor system if you liked the Broadways as well.

OOOOO Scary,

This is Lawrence arms second album and it improves on the first. Chris gets a few songs on this one but they are different from apathy and exhaustion or greates story ever told because th music isn't as emo. Brendan plays a pretty mean bass on this album and has some wonderful basslines which is pretty much ignored after this album. Just great energetic songs that will have you smiling and feeling good. i would recommend this as a god starting point for newcomers i 'll just warn you this album is raw but if you listen to punk especially indie punk then you'll be used to it.
