Interesting, retro, traditional country western folk rock...what?,
By
This review is from: Ghost Town (Audio CD)
With Marley's Ghost's latest release, Ghost Town, there is something contemporary and appealing in the handling of what are essentially old-fashioned country western folk songs - dare I say cowboy folk music. Retro is cool, right? This album is a fresh reminder that this site is not about what is commercially popular - instead, seek the unique, the creative, the pioneering. And Ghost Town qualifies. And the sound - a grassrootsy mix of...John Denver? Jimmy Buffet? Levon Helm? John Prine? I'm not sure if these guys belong on Austin City Limits or in the Grand Ole Opry. Marley's Ghost has been around since the `80s and forces listeners to hear their music on its own terms, not the pre-conceived parameters that many of us get locked into - myself especially. It took me a few listens, but I have turned the corner and really enjoy this album.
GENRES: Country Westerm, Folk Rock. BUY IF YOU LIKE: Levon Helm, Blue Rodeo, Steve Young, John Prine. MUST HEAR TRACKS: "Goodbye To Old Missoula," "Love and Happiness For You," "She's Too Good For Me," "Less and Less."

Real Country Music,

This review is from: Ghost Town (Audio CD)
I'm a fan of Country Music. It's becoming hard to find 'REAL' Country Music these days, but 'Ghost Town' by Marley's Ghost is without a doubt the best 'REAL' Country recording that I have heard in a very long time. From a song writing, performance and production standpoint, it is hard to find fault with this CD, so I will just say that 'Ghost Town' belongs in the collection of every single person who likes, might like, or is undecided about this sort of music. It will, without a doubt, make a fan of anyone who gives it a chance. This CD has been out for a while, but word travels slow in this genre, so check it out, and get yourself some Marley's Ghost.
