Silverberg brings these early mining towns back to life in the rowdy splendor of their heyday -- when eggs might cost three dollars apiece and a town's streets might be literally paved with silver.

This review is from: Ghost Towns of the American West (A Comstock Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
Book was in good condition and was a good read. Book provided useful info on some of the best surviving ghost towns of the west including Bodie in California and Ryolite on the Nevada border. Unfortunately, there was very little, except for a few paragraphs, on Deadwood or the Dakotas. Still, it was a great read for those interested in the subject. The bibliography is limited for those who might want further study. As a professor of history, I would recommend it for students in a survey course in US History or on the Gold Rush.
