Perfect from Beginning to End,
By
This review is from: Ghost Walk (Mira) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am shocked that there are low stars on this. I don't see how anyone could be disappointed. The characters are well-developed, the suspense is tight, the prose is engaging and intelligent, and the ghost story is enthralling. I picked this up at the airport and inhaled it, it was so good. Over much too fast. I hope others of her books are as good. If you like supernatural at ALL, like mysteries at ALL or romance, you won't be disappointed. Neither theme takes over, but all readers should be satiated because this book is strong is each category.

Probably my favorite by Heather Graham,

This was the first book by Heather Graham that I picked up and read, and is still my favorite after reading several more. I loved the story, loved the paranormal aspects, loved the characters. I would truly enjoy seeing a sequel; another adventure with this group of people.

I don't agree with the more negative reviews presented here. I enjoyed this book very much. I love Heather Graham writing ghost stories and hope she will continue to do so. I didn't find this book as riveting as Haunted, but definitely looked forward to picking it up after work until it was done.

This is another winning book by Heather Graham! It is an excellent romantic suspense with a paranormal twist. The characters were great and I found the book hard to put down. I also liked the strong sense of atmosphere-both New Orleans and spooky. She kept me guessing until the end. Highly recommended!

New Orleans Nostalgia,

This review is from: Ghost Walk (Mira) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the old New Orleans as I read this book. It's Heather Graham at her best. The characters -- especially Nikki -- were involving and I could easily imagine her mixed feelings when she discovers that she can "see" ghosts. A fun read and an excellent, spooky story just in time for Halloween.

Unexpected but delighting,
This review is from: Ghost Walk (Mira) (Mass Market Paperback)
I was really hoping this book would send chills down my back like "Haunted", but it didn't. It had it's own flair with intense moments and good romance. It was a good book. Once I really got in, I couldn't get out.

A Read That Delivers!!!,
By
This review is from: Ghost Walk (Mira) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nikki DuMonde works for a haunted tour company in the amazing city of New Orleans. Here she guides people through the haunted past of a city that is as mysterious and unique as it's past. So you can imagine her surprise when art begins imitating life. When a friend and co-worker dies under mysterious circumstances and then her ghost seems to find Nikki when she's all alone Nikki begins to wonder if perhaps if she might just be loosing her mind. After all normal people don't see ghosts let alone talk with them right? She's further shocked when she realizes Andy's ghost is not the only one she's been seeing. So when she meets Brent Blackhawk and the attraction is instantaneous and he understands what she's going through, Nikki can't help but wonder...is this all a product of her imagination or is Brent the one man who can save her from the one person that will do what they must to see her dead as her friend Andy? This is one of my favorites by Ms. Graham. She has vividly brought New Orleans to life as well as it's eclectic and dynamic past. Making this a vital character to the story. The suspense and ghostly addition makes this read a page turner from the very start. Add to this the sensually constructed chemistry and attraction between Nikki and her Brent makes this a romance not only believable but more importantly...entertaining. You need look no further for a top drawer romance that delivers on all counts!

Very Entertaining - Great Shades!,

This review is from: Ghost Walk (Mira) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nikki DuMonde had a very interesting job, conducting tours focusing on the haunted and purported ghostly areas of New Orleans. Her employees were more than just colleagues; they had all become her friends and Andrea `Andy' Ciello, the newest employee quickly bonded with Nikki after discovering their similar backgrounds. With a heightened sense of `presences' Nikki didn't scare easily, but in the harsh light of day, when confronted by the New Orleans police of Andy's death from an alleged drug overdose, Nikki knew that the visit she'd had the previous night from a distraught Andy was not physical but her spirit, pleading for help. Nikki also KNEW that it was NOT a drug overdose! In pleading her case with the police that Andy was murdered and not dead because of an overdose, only one person seemed to believe her - Brent Blackhawk. Brent was a paranormal investigator who was used to living in two worlds. Half Irish, and half Lakota, Brent had been communicating with ghosts from a very young age. New Orleans had once been home to him, a home that he chose to forget after loving and losing his wife there. He did not want to be drawn to Nikki, but his investigation into the death of a slain government undercover agent seemed to be connected to and drawing him closer to Nikki. Brent sensed that Andy's ghost seemed to be the key to uncovering the true culprit and also in keeping Nikki alive. *** Reading the book description and not having read very many really good ghost stories the plot and location both seemed very entertaining to me and in this I certainly was not disappointed. The two lead characters of Brent and Nikki were both likeable enough though not very deeply drawn. Frankly, the backgrounds of the ghosts Huey, Andy, and the slain government agent were much more interesting. The author seemed to throw suspicion of who was behind the murders in several different directions, which certainly kept up the suspense, and the ringleader was a complete surprise. The sexual attraction between Brent and Nikki was very well done though came in secondary to the suspense. I was both enthralled with the background of the `ghost walks' and certainly hope that New Orleans can overcome the horrific tragedy of hurricane Katrina so that I myself could visit New Orleans and go on a `haunted tour' myself. I enjoyed and found this to be an entertaining read, full of a plethora of secondary characters and some terrific ghosts. - |
