I ask this because I was able to acquire this soundtrack in my of my local used music stores for $7.99 about two years ago. In my opinion, the majority of the material on this disc rivals and may even surpass the 1984 original. The movie was, on the average, typically mediocre, Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis definetly could have done a better job with the screenplay this time around, I feel, but bening up against Batman in the theatres in 1989 probably didn't help either. Anyway, on to review the material on this collection. The only songs I don't care for are Doug E. Fresh's "Spirit", it being the wrong kind of rap that I don't enjoy, and Howard Huntsberry's (Who?) "Higher And Higher" remake. Both of Bobby Brown's "new for this compilation" tunes "On Our Own" and "We're Back" really rock, in the former, he explains the movie's plot, silly as it was! Bobby is then heard as one of the lead singers for the '80's R and B group New Edition "Supernatural" along with colleagues Ralph Tresvant and Bell Biv Devoe, I believe. Then comes my favorite on this CD, "J.T.'s" "The Promised Land", and next the purely excellent Run-DMC "Ghostbusters Rap", it's really funky. As for the next three, Oingo Boingo's "Flesh N Blood", Elton John's (! ) "Love Is A Cannibal", and "Glenn Frey's "Flip City", they are all OK rock-pop tunes on this collection, no problems there. All in all, this soundtrack really shouldn't be hard to find, I strongly advise against buying it from this site. Until next time, people, "I ain't 'fraid of no ghost!"

Listening to this music from the wonderful movie brings me back to that happier time in my life, 1989, with fewer cares, etc. It helps me relive that first time watching it in the theaters. That is, when I'm not actually watching the DVD at home. But there is something about the music in this CD. It really is awesome! My favorites are "On Our Own" (of course!), "We're Back", "Flip City" and "Higher and Higher." This is truly some of the best music for any movie, any time, IMO. If you are still a Ghostbusters fan (as I continue to be and always will), then you really must get this CD for your collection. It is well worth the money spent, however you can get it, wherever you can find it (the CD, that is). Who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! :)

That's part of the Ghostbusters song by Run-DMC. It may even be better than the original by Ray Parker Jr. In fact, the reason I bought this soundtrack was for the Run-DMC version. Although the other songs aren't without their charms. To summarize, this is a great CD. I highly recommend it, especially to any ghosthead.

This CD really rocks - like no other soundtrack. As I listen to each song, I am taken back in memory to the theater as I watched the movie for the very first time. I purchased Ghostbusters 1 and Ghostbusters 2 on DVD, replacing the VHS versions. Now, I did the same with the soundtrack, from cassettes (remember those? hehe) to the CD versions. I've not been disappointed with any of them. Excellent sound quality and convenience - to play B. Brown's "On Our Own" in Repeat mode ;) I could - and often do - listen to that one track over and over, along with "We're Back" and "Higher and Higher" and, of course, "Flip City" but they really are all good -- well worth the money, whatever it costs you! No Ghostbusters fan's library or shelf is complete without at least this CD, but you really have to get all of them.
;)

Do you like a little bit of rap, pop and music to dance too? Well this is the CD for you! Great titles including "On Our Own", "Flip City", "Higher & Higher". This is a CD you can't miss, even if you don't like Ghostbusters, I guarentee you'll have the words down ASAP! With great artists like Bobby Brown, Run DMC, and Elton John, how can you pass this up? NOW- Stop reading this and order it!

I was craving this album as part of a 1980's week, that and because I like the soundtrack. "Don't worry, we handle this kind of thing all the time."

Like the film itself, the song score of "Ghostbusters II" was not quite up to the standard of the original film. Nonetheless, this is a fun CD. Whereas every track on the "Ghostbusters" soundtrack is heard in the film (even if only for two seconds), the "Ghostbusters II" CD showcases some songs composed for the film but omitted from the final cut. Most amazing is that director Ivan Reitman had the chutzpah to commission a song from the great Elton John -- the rollicking "Love is a Cannibal" -- and not use it in his movie!

Also unlike the first soundtrack album, "Ghostbusters II" features no excerpts from the incidental music score, instead focusing entirely on songs. While Randy Edelman's score is enjoyable, it is far inferior to Elmer Bernstein's for the first film, so its absence from the CD feels like no great loss.

While my favorite song in the film was "Spirit" (which features the best of the soundtrack's three separate retellings of the film's storyline in rap), my favorite song on the album is "Flip City", which is heard to much better advantage than in the film. Ironically, its lyrics can be interpreted as a (clearly coincidental) comment on the Egon-Janine-Louis triangle suggested by this movie.
